Using many tracks in MEP 2014

asoeli wrote on 7/4/2014, 2:25 PM

Problems with many tracks with MEP 2014 Premium, ver 13.0.4.4. PC is pretty new with Core i7-3770K and GeForce GTX 660, Win 7..

I am trying to make a short film based on Clown2's excellent tutoriel, « Effets stroboscopiques 3».
The video file is a MTS 1920x1080 50 f/s.
There are many 'bikers', 12, so I use totally 27 tracks, and the whole sequence is 25 sec. Playback in MEP is partly uneven, this I accept with so many 'heavy' files. But it shows the whole film.
No tracks are marked with S or M, nor are they locked.
But when exporting, only tracks number 1, 26 and 27 are rendered, so only biker no 1 and 12 is visible. I have exported to MPG, WMV, MXV with 25 and 50 f/sec, all giving the same result.
Reducing to 5 'bikers', (11 tracks) give the same result.
Have anybody an idea of what is wrong?
Great thanks in advance for any answer, in english, german or french.

Hi Andreas

Clown2's tutorial does not appear to mention the Alpha effects direction arrow. which appears when you hover the mouse over the white image with the Alpha effect applied - this must point down as shown here

Note the white square and the direction of the arrow (when the arrow points up the square is black) for the Alpha effect.

In your image I can see no evidence that the alpha effect is applied to a white image - I can only see an image with called xxxxxxxx_alpha.png   xxxxx is the part of the name I cannot read.

This is where I think your problem is.

Thanks for the answer John!

All my masks are active Alpha-masks. Indeed, I save them with a name ending with _alpha.png, and thus they are automatically treated as Alpha's when dragged to Timeline.

The film is shown correct in MEP, but not when exported !

Hi Terry!

On this Forum click Tutorials -Video. Clown2's video comes up on the first page.

I have solved the mask-job in a little different way than clown suggests, and now try changing it.

Hi Andreas,

Can you or John  point me to the tutorial please? Or an example of the finished result so that I can try doing it myself?

The problem is solved !
I planned that the last biker's jacket was strong green and blue jeans, and I used Color correction / Add / Foreground to get the new color, but a good part of the rest of the clip was green too. Therefore I had to make some masks that showed only the jacket, and used a slightly different technique on the rest of the project as well. And it was correctly displayed in MEP, but was not to render as video file, strange case.
I have modified the project and followed clown2's recipe, and everything is correct.
Thanks for trying to help !!

Thanks John. Took a quick look and reckon I see the basic approach. But if necessary I'll get some translation help from my wife.

But if you get around to using the effect yourself, maybe you could do a Backup > Copy project and media into folder and share?
