Vegas Pro 15.0 stuttering when playing back preview

I used to run Vegas 10 but since I liked the software so much I decided to buy it and I ended up with a fully licensed version of Vegas Pro 15. I have serious issues with this product, I'm unable to properly work with it since the project preview heavily stutters when I play back a project. This wasn't an issue at all with Vegas 10 on the same computer. All my preview settings are on Draft Quarter but weirdly enough, even with those settings the project playback stutters. I feel like my pc should handle this just fine. These are my specs:
- Windows 10 Pro
- 16GB RAM
- Intel Core i7 on 4.4 Ghz
- Gefore GTX 1080
- Samsung 1TB SSD

What I already tried to fix the problem:
- Changed Dynamic RAM Preview max (MB) to higher and lower value.
- Enabled/Disabled GPU acceleration of video processing.
- Quantize to frames on/off.
- Preview on external monitor on/off.
- Disabled all background processes and non-essential software.
- Latest version (check for updates says "No updates available at this time").

I'm super displeased with this product. Ironically enough, the moment I decide to pay for a product, I end up with something that isn't usable at all. I had zero issues with this in Vegas 10. Anything else I can do?
