I am using Movie Studio 2022 to import old Digital8 video tapes. They are being saved in .avi format. When I try to apply the Vegas video stabilization to shaky sections, it does not seem to have any improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Does the Vegas stabilisation progress bar complete and you get a jump in the zoom added by the effect to eliminate black borders appearing as shown in the clip below.
What is your computer specification, Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with if this is a laptop.
I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Are the graphics card drivers up to date?
A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab would help.
After highlighting the shaky section in the timeline, when I click the "Analyze Motion Data" button, a pop-up appears "Plug-in Analysis" showing a progress bar which increases up to 100%. Then the pop-up window disappears. The button now reads "Clear Motion Data". I do not see any black bars in the preview screen. I have a desktop computer.
CPU: Pentium G2020 2.90 GHz. RAM: 8 GB Windows 10 Home Edition Display resolution: 1920 x 1080 Display Adaptor: AMD Radeon HD 5500 Series. Latest driver is installed.
In the Movie Studio Program settings, Device options tab, Import, Processing and Export options ensure that all 3 are set to CPU.
. . . . click the "Analyze Motion Data" button, a pop-up appears "Plug-in Analysis" showing a progress bar which increases up to 100%. Then the pop-up window disappears. The button now reads "Clear Motion Data". I do not see any black bars in the preview screen. . . . .
That is correct, as soon as the progress bar disappears did you see the image in the Preview monitor 'jump' as the zoom was applied? If so then the effect has been applied
If the shaky section is small part of a longer video clip then the degree of stabilisation applied may be very small as the average degree of shake may low. Isolating the shaky section with 2 cuts then applying the effect to that section will introduce a 'jump' as shown below (at 2 secs and 5 secs)
. . . . highlighting the shaky section . . .
Can you clarify what you mean by this, ie do you mean selected the clip as shown in the example I gave or you selected a range as shown below
Selecting a range as shown above does not work with the stabilisation effect.
I was selecting a range in a longer video which was very "shaky". I Isolated it with two cuts and then selected it. Are you saying that the "shaky" section needs to be the only thing in the timeline? I will give that a try.
