Hi,

Some specific questions first:

1. Is the “video from Youtube” a file you have downloaded?

2. What file type is it?

3. Does it play successfully after you have imported it into MEP?

4. Exactly how have you tried to trim it, after studying the Help, PDF manual or various tutorials covering MEP basics?

Using the scissors tool and deleting unwanted sections by pressing the Delete key should prove fairly intuitive,

Yes, I d/L it from Youtube. It is a music video.

When I attempt to put the file into a folder it will not list as an operable file. When I try to upload the file to the MEP video it won"t open, it says, Utube_BAK5.MV_' cannot be read( as for that, it won't open at all) . I have placed the video into a PowerPoint and it works, but, I cannot trim it there either. I have looked at the tutorials and manual. I have an older version of Magix and it was so much easier.

Do I need to change the extension?

Hi,

Using the Windows explorer what is the file extension (filename.???)  letters represented by question mark. Also Windows explorer can give to you info about the file or you can use MediaInfo to check the file this is free on the Web.

Hi

By Magix Edit Pro Premium I presume you mean Movie Edit Pro Premium see under Help, About . . . for the correct full name and version number..

. . . . When I try to upload the file to the MEP video it won"t open, it says, Utube_BAK5.MV_' cannot be read( as for that, it won't open at all) . . . .

This file is a backup of the project file, not the video itself.

. . . . from Youtube. It is a music video. When I attempt to put the file into a folder it will not list as an operable file . . .

The video you downloaded should be a MP4 file and it is this that you edit - if it is not what is the file extension, ie the last three characters after the . (full stop/period) - of the file you downloaded?

If you are new to Movie Edit Pro and/or video editing, then I would suggest you see John CB's tutorial on getting started with Movie Edit Pro.

Are you sure you are not trying to open the 'Folder' in MEP rather than the file? It is quite easy if you are new to the programme to try to drag the folder onto the timeline rather than the file in it.
