Video 2022 Deluxe freezes constantly - Video 2019 Deluxe doesn't

Adelphos wrote on 11/27/2021, 4:44 PM

Hi there!

With the version Magix Deluxe 2022 I have the problem that it freezes me constantly. As soon as I open a more complex film, it freezes after a few edits (or just when I move and scroll the film), I do not have this problem on the 2019 version, with which I could edit and output the film without problems. I can reproduce the problem to the extent that on the same PC with the same project I install 2019 once (and then uninstall it again) and then 2022 and each time only 2022 freezes on me, never 2019. Is there a solution for this? I wanted to upgrade to 2022 and have already paid for it, but this way the program is useless for me and I prefer to stay with the more stable 2019. My Windows version is currently Windows 10 21H1 (10.0.19043.1348).

Greetings,

Christoph

@Adelphos

Hi Christoph and welcome to the user to user forums.

If you ever look at the minimum specs pages before upgrading you should be aware they are minimum specs and should ideally be exceeded in all aspects if you expect to run the program smoothly. Currently that would mean at least an Intel i7900K (six cores) or higher and newer, along with an nvidia 1650 Super of higher (preferably a 6GB or higher card using from Pascal to the latest die architecture as Kepler and older designs no longer work) with at least 16GB of DDR4 motherboard ram, preferably 32GB or more ram if you use either a lot of effects or use video up to 4K resolution. Ideally aim even higher than that on computer specs. Both GPUs should also be enabled in the bios. The 2019 version was not so demanding of equipment as it was not designed to start handling 8K footage.

If you look at my profile (Signature in blue) beneath I am just about managing to use MEP 2022 with 4K footage.

If you are nowhere near that specification, personally I would stick to your 2019 version.

Ray.

Thanks Ray for the hint, yes you are right, probably my PC is too old and underpowered - unfortunately I don't have the money to buy a new video monster ;-) - how can I turn off the constantly annoying update warning, this does not work for me. Maybe it works with a registry hack?

@Adelphos

Hi.

Personally I wouldn't be too disappointed in running an older version of MEP for a while. The incremental export speed increase benefits obtained in each generation is only available if the computer components are still in advance of the minimum specs needed to run. Most times there are few internal changes to the program with the exceptions of a few extra fonts and fades etc being added and the often additional third party effects that don't always have lifetime usage applied to them. Some things have been lost instead like the main concept codec and the ability to produce 5.1 surround DVDS and export to mp3 sound files. So updates sometime lose functionality as well and Magix is very bad at giving bad news.

I skipped MEP 2019 because at the time I was saving to replace components. I think I will have to skip MEP 2023 when it comes out until I can replace the motherboard, CPU and nvidia card again as I have found that the ninth generation of processors can't clock memory to be used above 2133MHz even though I have 3200MHz ram and I think I'm 2GB short of being able to get best performance out of a current nvidia graphics card. The i9900k only has 128 MB of actual vram on its HD 630 graphics chip, all of which will possibly cause problems to the next version when it arrives.

I had to disable everything in Magix connect program to stop notifications. That worked for me. If John EB sees this thread he may have other suggestions.

Hi

. . . . how can I turn off the constantly annoying update warning . . . .

Did you disable the Update Notifier as shown in the bottom half of the support article you linked to?

You can also uninstall Update Notifier also known as Magix Cloud if you do not use it.
