Video always plays after export even if "Don't play out" selected

tpolakov wrote on 3/14/2021, 10:53 AM

Hi,

I was not able to find a setting to prevent playing the video back automatically after export.

The Play after export setting in the export dialog is set to "Don't play out". In fact, there is only this option and "Record to CD or DVD" - I have no idea why it plays out automatically in an external player.

I am on version 2021 but I believe it has always been the case even with previous versions.

Any hints are appreciated.

Thanks

Tomas

Hi Thomas.

It has ever been thus. Why I don't know.

MEP does do this if the default player in Windows is set to Films and TV or Windows Media Player but only if you export files as MPEG-1/2/4. If you can change the default player to a third party player that will normally stop the automatic playback. You could also try in the app settings in preferences for Films and TV not to be the default player of MPEG-1/2/4 files but I haven't tried that.

Ray.

Thank you Ray, though my default player is VLC, it still plays it (in VLC). I guess it's just the way it is.

@tpolakov Have you got this box ticked, Program Settings (press Y on the keyboard)

or go to the top left File - Settings - Program

@Former user

Hi Gid.

Makes no difference if it is ticked or not on my system. The only way for me was to not make Films and TV my default player for MP4 files which was not really practical.

Hi

. . . . Makes no difference if it is ticked or not on my system . . . .

Same here, except it does not matter what the default player is - MP4s always play after export.

In my case it is not a nuisance because the first thing I do after export is check the video for 'needed adjustments' before final use.

Greetings all,

I've had this problem with every version of MEP since 2015 except for the latest incarnation 2021.

I can export AVIs, MP4s and MPGs with them playing after export - unless I want them to of course.

I've probably jinxed it now though.

Edit - I should add that I use Windows Films & TV for videos.

Unticking the box as @Former user said worked for me. I also restarted the program after changing the setting. Thanks!

Like John EB, I, too, am happy to see the immediate playback of exported mp4s. To be able to immediately check the output I find invaluable!

@tpolakovGood glad it worked 👍👍

@CubeAce @me_again @johnebaker Don't know what to say, mine did open the exported file automatically but i turned it off because i want to open that file when i want to, just a personal choice i guess but also my exports for YT are 20mins long, it's sometimes a long session putting 20-40 clips together so i often hit export then go put the kettle on, I'll come back in 10mins with a hot drink n watch it, When i get an update sometimes this box gets turned back on so I just turn it off, 15yrs of Magix Edit & never had a prob turning it off that i can recall, my default media player VLC, it has been for many yrs also. 🤷‍♂️👍
