.mov files (from canon camera) 720 and 1080p

home computer: DualCore AMD Phenom II X2 Black, 4GB Ram, GeForce GTX550Ti

work computer: HP Elite desk 800 G1, 8GB Ram, GeForce GTX... (don't remember what model, but better then home)

PS: Another problem is (on both computers) afteri locking the computer or go to sleep mode the preview windows goes white, and i must restart the program. All functions are working, and the project is playing but i have no preview. After restart program everything is ok.

Hi

. . . . DualCore AMD Phenom II X2 Black, 4GB Ram, GeForce GTX550Ti . . . .

This computer is below the minimum specification required for editting HD video in MEP 2015 and will hang (freeze) while trying to process the HD video.

Without knowing the specs or age of the Dell it is difficult to say, however if it it is a fairly recent model ie less then 2-3yrs old then it should be above the minimum spec needed.  However the question is by how much?

The going to sleep problem you can fix by changing the Power Management settings in the Windows Control Panel.  I set mine to Never for all options to hibernate/sleep.

Hi actualy i don't think so. Why the trial ver. of Movie Edit Pro runs with less problems?

I had no problems editing the same HD material on my old computer (HP, 2 core with 2GB Ram and integrated graphic card) with Video Deluxe 17. The program never crashed or freezed and runs smoother and better as a newer computer with better spec and the 2014 version installed.

I also never had the problems with sleep mode or locked computer in any other version of the program.

Hi

Not sure why you are experiencing such problems. How big are your projects and how many clips do they contain on the timeline?

MEP does start to get unstable when there are large numbers of HD clips and the memory is close to maxed out, when you are working further down the timeline. This may be why the trial workrd better because it limits the size of the project, if I recall correctly.

MEP has gone through a few changes in the way it interacts with the Hardware, memory, etc. since V17, but you could look at the V17 program settings and compare them with the settings of your 2014 installation, and align them to see if there is an improvement and if not reset the 2014 program settings to Default.

A couple of things might help:-

You should not have to lose your work as the program auto saves every 10 mins by default. You can change this to 1 min or 5mins in the program settings.

I am not sure it is a good idea to put the PC to sleep with MEP open because there is usually a huge amount of data cached in memory which could cause instability in the program whem changing the PC state. At minimum save and then select from the top menu "Edit > Empty undo and cache memory" immediately before putting to sleep or closing.

Make sure you have a suitably large pagefile set in Windows ie. 2 to 3x the amount of RAM.

Defrag the discs before and after installing the program and frequently thereafter with a good 3rd partly defragger / optimiser.

Reset the program settings to defaults.

Hi, thank you for your answers

- My projects are asually 3-4 min. clips

- Autosave is always set to 1min

- the problems with the white preview window also happens if i just lock the computer (its required at work)
