Thanks AAProds I found the comparisons with that link, but all three products had check marks for each feature plus all three also supported 200 tracks, four cameras, and 75 movie editing templates. Unless I'm looking at it wrong, all the multiple check marks, and same numeric values indicate no difference in features among the products. I know that can't be true so, is it me or is the web page wrong. I'm guessing it me but I've double and triple checked.

Yes, I noticed the same! Weird. The only editing differences I can see are for Platinum, you don't get the Boris FX effects package and only Stereo Audio editing (as opposed to multichannel).

The BIG difference (the way of the world, these days?) is the AI features, where the more expensive versions have greater AI functions eg Speech to Text 1hr/2hr/6hr per year.

Perhaps Magix has given up on crippling the cheaper versions and decided to put out basically one version with differing levels of AI support. Probably makes sense from a programming point of view.

Hi,

Magix dropped the entry-level/basic version a year ago or so, it just disappeared from the list available for purchase. That was the only version that was stunted. Plus and Premium were, as far as I can recall and from what I see in the manuals, always the same, the only difference being third party plugins with Premium. Right now, there is only 1 version of the program. Plus comes with no addons, Premium with 1 addon, Ultimate is Premium plus a list of addons, and each comes with different amounts of Storyblocks downloads and TTS/STT. But, the program itself is supposed to be identical. Al, Stereo beside audio multichannel is strange. I will check in my 2026 Plus version.

From the 2025 manual:

  • The entry-level version Movie Studio is aimed first and foremost at beginners without previous video editing experience who want to easily make and edit videos on their PC. This program version contains helpful picture and sound wizards that help make the video editing process easier, as well as an intuitive user interface.
  • The advanced version Movie Studio Plus offers all of the features of the standard version plus extra tools and features for video editing. This version is intended for advanced users.
  • Movie Studio Premium contains all of the features of the Plus version. This version also comes with powerful add-on programs from third party providers.

The 2026 manual just refers to the website comparison table.

Hi Al,

I think that there is a mistake in the comparison table and Stereo is a holdover from the basic version; someone forgot to remove it and replace it with a checkmark.

I checked in my version of 2026, which is Plus, and multichannel audio is present in the mixer and I can import video clips with multichannel audio. VDL doesn't have the same capability as VPX and never did, but Platinum and Suite were always the same.

Here is what the 2025 manual says:

5.1 Surround/Multichannel

This feature is available in the Plus/Premium version of Movie Studio. With Movie Studio, you can play back and export multichannel audio tracks.

Here is what the 2026 manual says:

5.1 Surround/Mehrkanalton

NOTE This feature is available in the Platinum/Suite version of Video deluxe. With Video deluxe, you can play back and export multichannel audio tracks.

The manual has not been corrected either as there is no longer Platinum/Suite, but rather Plus/Premium, which is the same result. Strangely, a German word crept in.
