Video Deluxe 2026 Could Not Find a Part of the Program

Scott-Wright wrote on 1/20/2026, 9:28 PM

Team: I get an error message on program start: "Could not find a part of the program. Please install the program again." The problem is that I've already done a clean install of the program. While the program does load after this, any attempt to load a prior project causes a fatal error and the program closes. This is in version 25.0.1.316, which just updated.

Also, in the interest of completion: I've done all the normal things you'd do here-- I'm pretty close to an expert in Windows Support and build my own machines. Windows 11 64-bit is up-to-date. I'm running the latest WHQL drivers for My Radeon 9070 XT, which are the same drivers that worked for the last month and a half until today. (Out of precaution, I did reinstall.) Checks for corrupted files with SFC /scannow are clear. One Drive is paused. Ran the application as an Admin. None of these solve the problem. The crash (when I attempt to start a new project or open a prior one) is in the program .EXE itself.

@Scott-Wright

Scott, FYI, has happened before:

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/message-could-not-find-a-part-of-the-program-please-install-again--1351321/

and by the looks, not resolved.

I am able to open old projects, and i have the 316 patch installed.

Hi

Looking through the German section of the forum, this issue has been occurring randomly for seversl years.

The solution is to uninstall and re-install the program, and remove all the fragments, files and folders and registry data that a normal uninstall leaves behind.

I recommend using Revo Uninstaller, the free version is here, I wouls suggest using the Portable version which you can install on a memory stick for future use if you do not want to install it on the PC.

After the uninstall, Revo will search for left overs, check that they actually belong to VDL before deleting.

Reboot the computer, ensure One Drive is not syncing the Documents/Magix folder if present, if not create it and stop it syncing.

Re-install VDL using the default install location.

Sadly, I tried this. Didn't work. Removed all the files / folders and the registry keys. No luck. For fun, I removed 2026 and went back to 2025. Same issue. Clearly, there's some software conflict with an otherwise stable, happy Windows 11 install. I'm not having issues with any other software, video, audio, or photo editor. This really stinks as I've used this program (and its precursors) for over a decade. But if this can't be resolved, I've got to switch to something else for video editing. It's sad, and it's maddening.

One thing that was interesting to me: Even after running Revo, when I would re-download 2026 and start it up, it still had my e-mail and product key saved for the product registration. That seemed odd to me, given that I'd deleted everything associated with Magix on this PC. Not sure if that's a clue as to what's going on, but I hope it helps someone on the support team.

I had this happen with experimenting (different install structures) with pointing content downloads to external drive for various editions (should be fine as Magix does this natively on C in the /videocontent location.... and if I try and uninstall one of the other programs also pointing to external shared folder, I will sometimes get that same error of missing parts of the program, please reinstall.... if you have a backup copy of the shared folder and place it back as was with all of the programs installed, the error goes away on next relaunch....it appears that more than just "content" is stored at this location and when an uninstaller is run for another program, it may "remove" or "change" something that "breaks" the handshake for "all good" somehow..... its a Magix quirk, but not as "no go back" as it looks/sounds when the pesky error box pops up.... Hope this helps someone.....

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !
