Message: Could not find a part of the program. Please install the program again. I did a new install and rebooted the PC. I still get this same message. The program has been working fine up until today.
. . . . Could not find a part of the program. Please install the program again . . . .
This suggests to me you are referring to Vegas Pro or Vegas Movie Studio, is this correct?
If so you are in the wrong forum, the Vegas product forum link is at the bottom of this page.
If you are using Video deluxe, formerly called Magix Movie Studio for versions 18 and later, and Movie Edit Pro before that, or Magix Video Pro X
. . . . The program has been working fine up until today . . . .
What changed on the PC between working and not working, eg Windows update, a GPU driver update?
We also need more information to help diagnose the issue(s) you are having:
The specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.
I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Movie Studio 2025 Platinum has been working perfectly.
There were no computer changes other than Windows update 2025 12 on Dec 11, 2025. Movie Studio was running OK after that date. It was running OK the day before this message:
"Could not find a part of the program. Please install the program again"
I have reinstalled the program twice. The second time I uninstalled, downloaded from Magix and installed the program.
I suspect the issue is may not be with Magix Movie Studio (MMS).
Are you logging into Windows using a Microsoft Account and is OneDrive active and syncing to the cloud?
Try/check the following:
Right click the program shortcut and select 'Run as administrator', if that works then there is a permissions issue, either the installed Antivirus program is blocking MMS, or your logon account if not using a Microsoft account.
Have the drivers for the RX5500 XT been updated through Windows Update between working and not working? If so roll them back to the previous version.
. . . . One Drive is working and syncing properly . . . .
This is known to cause issues with video editors and other software which creates and uses temporary files during editing. When you setup Windows 11 25H2 this is the default set by Microsoft, to use a Microsoft account to logon with.
The media files and temp files, used in your projects, must be available locally, ie on your PC's hard/ssd drive, however OneDrive syncs these up to the OneDrive cloud storage, approximately every 10 mins.
Ensure you have a backup copy of your files and folders on you computer in a folder that is not inside the OneDrive folder or on your Desktop, or saved to external hard drive, then either:-
Stop/disable the syncing of the Magix folder and all its sub folders, this should be in the OneDrive/Documents folder if you used the the default installations setting for VDL/MMS. If not check the file path to the folder in the program settings Folders tab for projects, temp files etc.
OR
Disable OneDrive completely if you do not need it, most people do no not, unless using OneDrive to sync files across different devices.
I have exited OneDrive and the problem still remain. OneDrive was running before this problem occurred. I didn't see any evidence on Movie Studio using OneDrive for temporary folders.
Did anyone solve this? My Video deluxe 2026 Premium now doing it. Full uninstall and reinstall etc to no avail. Yes I use OneDrive but only for storage - no local directories are located on the OneDrive. And I sign in with a local account - Windows Pro 11. There is no Microsoft sign-in account at all.
After the message, it opens the Create Project dialogue, which you accept and then it crashes out with: Error in module "videodelux.exe" and some addresses and {Exception 0xc0000005 "Access_Violation")
Interestingly there is nothing logged in the Event Log. On relaunch it wants to send the crash log to them but it will not display, nothing happens when you click that option.
The only thing that changed from when it did run last time was that I installed ON1 Photo Editor and there were some Windows updates
Version 25.0.1.318
Windows 11 Pro fully patched latest version. Lenovo X1 Carbon 13th Gen
I uninstalled ON1 and it makes no difference. But what is interesting is the log files mention Topaz (which I have) just before the fatal. Anyway I use it a lot so I am not uninstalling that for sure.
I am taking this as a forced departure from Magix - as much as I love the simplicity of Video Delux andVPX - and rolling up my sleeves to go with Resolve. It is perhaps time to move on to something else.
Topaz Video Ai and Topaz Photo Ai (I bought them perpetual back then) and the latest subscription versions of each also. But something interesting just happened - I ran VPX 16 again and this time it offered an update which I installed and then it opened without the error!
I got all excited and ran Video delux 2026 Premium again but alas - the error appears. Went back to VPX16 and it still works so I guess I just need to figure out the differences but seems much the same - different view on opening
I am nervous to upgrade VPX to 17 - think I just leave things as they are and count my blessings :}
Hi sorry for long delay - just back from travels. I updated my signature. I have two systems, a desktop and a laptop. Both VPX16 and Studio fail on my desktop with the same message. Studio 2026 fails on laptop but VPX16 runs fine on it - both same version (22.0.1.270 UDP3.) The Device options are all set to RTX 5070ti on the desktop and Intel Arc on the laptop. And yes I use OneDrive on both but files pulled only from local non-online sources
NVIDIA Studio driver on desktop V610.47 (Recently updated but made no difference). I connected BOTH monitors to the RTX to see if the iGPU was a problem but the same behaviour occurs. When connecting both monitors to RTX the iGPU completely vanishes from all systems.
On the laptop it is the latest Arc driver v32.0.101.8801
. . . . Studio 2026 fails on laptop but VPX16 runs fine on it - both same version (22.0.1.270 UDP3.) The Device options are all set to RTX 5070ti on the desktop and Intel Arc on the laptop. . . . .
Try rolling back the RTX 5070 Ti driver to 581.57 (SD) or 581.80 (GRD).
VPX 16 will not, AFAIK, receive the patch to the changes in the 591.xx series drivers made by NV, which 'broke' VPX 16 and earlier versions, and several other, non Magix, video editors, only VPX 17 received the fix.
Hi @johnebaker I upgraded to VPX17 trial, as just easier and you are right - it starts without the error message and works just fine. What is REALLY strange is that after I installed the trial, my Movie Studio 2025 is now working without the error...
You Sir are a genius - I uninstalled the trial and boom - Studio 2025 is still working on my Desktop! Let me try this on my Laptop where VPX16 DOES work (Intel only environment) but Studio 2026 is broken and report back
