Magix has released new versions, VDL 2027 and Video Pro X18.
On the Magix.com site for these, under "What's New," they mention:
Benefit from numerous workflow refinements, bug fixes, and stability improvements inspired by customer feedback.
I would like to know what are the numerous workflow refinements...inspired by customer feedback.
If anyone gets either of these upgrades and can figure out these refinements, please post them here.
Any comments on the other new features?

I have installed the trial of VDL2027 Plus. Of interest is that you now get a choice to keep an existing previous version - it asks. So, I have both VDL2026 and 2027 Plus.
I quickly tested out the new facial recognition feature. Seems to work well depending on the size of the faces. Had trouble with group shots where people were not too close. I needed to read the manual to figure how to use this feature.

The "numerous" could be referring to the bug fixes and stab improvements, you know, one refinement and dozens of bug fixes. 😉
If they have fixed the "backup steals my mouse pointer" bug then I'll be happy.

Bought the Premium version and it installed with no problem - I ticked the keep existing version button (MS2025) however, certainly initially, MS2025 now does not have access to my downloaded Store content; VLD 2027 does.
I've not opened an existing project yet so the mouse grab hasn't showed up. Maybe that's a good sign?
All in all I think it's cleaner / smoother that MS2025 but maybe that's because I've just spent part of my pension on it 😁. The AV1 now exports properly though.
One question for the knowledgable, My purchase included a "free" soundpack - as a zip file. I can obviously open it but what do I do with it then? I've never (knowingly) used them before.

Al, I could be wrong as it all happens so fast BUT I set the auto-save to 1 minute and then didn't touch anything, The Autosave saved.
The I scrolled with the mouse continuously for 3 minutes with no sign of Autosave and as soon as I released the mouse button Autosave saved.
It need more realworld testing bought thought you may be interested.

That is strange. If both are premium, then both access Store-bought audio under the audio which gets the files from:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Movie Edit Pro Premium
at least that is what I get. As you can see, there is no version indicated. I presume that yours says Movie Edit Pro Premium like mine and not Video Deluxe Premium.

Even if there is one refinement, I would like to know what it is.
Looking at the German forum, I see that there is a general disappointment that Magix has not upgraded to VST3 audio plugins. I share this disappointment. There are other things that Magix needs to do than adding in AI stuff for facial recognition and categories, as nice as it seems to be.
VST3 is one of them. Fixing Magix Capture audio so that the files are wave and not mp3, along with a choice of stereo or mono is another. Since Magix messed up Audio Cleaning Lab (4) and sold it off to Boris who doesn't even know it has it, there is no reasonable external audio editor available that works from the timeline - I still have to use ACL3 as 4 doesn't open the file from the timeline. Music Editor 3 doesn't even do VST2 plugins, at least I can't get them. The path in ME3 to VST plugins is C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\. Changing to C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\ gives no new plugins. So, ME3 either needs to be replaced or get back ACL and fix it, or get another flavour. BTW, Magix Video Sound Cleaning Lab is no better than ME3.
Further audio things to do include: having the waveform adjust to points on the audio clip volume curve; ability to directly add VST2/3 plugins to audio cleaning.
As for the tagging and categorization, I would have thought that it would have been better to upgrade Photo Manager 64 bits, call it what it actually is - Media Manager, stabilize it, fix the database field names, and have tagging/categorizing done there it is now, and then add in a link to categories in the video editing program - as was done many years ago.
Under Assign Tags, I can't get any videos to show up so I can't even tag them. Seems to be only for Images unless I'm missing something. Maybe Magix forgot that this is video editing program and we use video files.

It's worse than I thought. I've gained a song collection but lost a couple of sound effects.
I say it's worse, and it is as far as items going missing / gained it certainly is, but in reality I don't use these very often if at all. They were free ones with various coupons given with various MEP purchases.

Interestng, I have been trying to post on this site with 4 different browsers on both mac and windows and could not: always got the 403 Forbidden message. I decided to just paste in the 403 forbidden message and that posted!
Can anyone explain why my original message would not post? (No bad language or anything like that). I still would like to post it.

It was Wednesday, or maybe the moon was in the wrong position, or there were solar flares. Who knows. Yesterday, I couldn't log in to my account with Magix. It would just return to the log in screen, no error message. Today, no problem.
Try posting your message again. Before posting, copy it to the clipboard, just in case it doesn't work.

Just tried to cut and paste my message that I am trying to post. (I always copy and save it in a word processor in case). It just came up with the same forbidden message. I will see if this posts. Is there a forum administrator I can contact?

Obviously something in my original post attempt(s) was not acceptable... so I am going to paraphrase my observations here regarding Video deluxe 2027 and hope it gets posted.
1) I too noticed that it appears that all the categorize features seem to be for photos only. I do not see any of this included in 2027. I consider this a step backwards. I would have hoped Magix would have improved what they started last version... but it appears they abandoned the video categorizing. (I hope I find out I am wrong and that I just do not see it).
2) A few audio song collections do not load but are still available in previous versions of video deluxe and video pro X. I have followed all steps suggested by ai responses by support and on the support web pages. Hopefully support will supply a remedy for this soon).
If there is anyone who updated to Video Pro X18, please let me know if this is happening there also.

The 403 error would suggest you have included a sequence of characters which are not allowed by the Magix systems and the system has refused access.

I still can't get my free sound pack to show up anywhere.
I presume that this is the zipped file. I use a folder for misc music and sound fx and put everything there that doesn't fit anywhere else. Then, I create one or more links to that under Import.
Note that all of the audio files that are under Audio, that is, those obtained through the Store (usually) are mxcogg files that will only work from within the video program. You can get the unblocked ogg or sometimes the wav files by logging into your account on Producer Planet. They'll be zipped and I unzip them to my aforementioned general folder under appropriate subfolders, matching the folder name for the sound pack that I see under the Audio tab.
For your missing pack, Ultimate Christmas Song Collection, I suggest that you check your account on Producer Planet to see what you have available. Also, what do you have under the folder in 2027? I got Ultimate CSC when I purchased the Ultimate VPX17. It translated into Christmas Song Collection Vol. 1 through 4.

Thanks John, that explains it all. I so rarely use that sort of clip that I'd forgotten I had a link under Import to Slideshow Music, a folder I created many moons ago. Put the folder in there and there they are. I'm beginning to dislike age.
