VPX program monitor is blank when full screen - Solved

Kraz wrote on 1/5/2022, 5:44 AM

I've been using Video Pro X12 and I'm trialling Video Pro X13. I've noticed that when I make the programme monitor full screen it is black with horizontal line through the middle. This is when using my Nvidia GeForce 960 as the processing engine. However if I change it to using the CPU I no longer have a problem when going full screen with the programme monitor. I notice they recommend a GeForce 1060 could by lesser graphics card be the problem?

Thanks
Kraznet

Hi

. . . . I notice they recommend a GeForce 1060 could by lesser graphics card be the problem? . . . .

It could be if the source video is h.265 which is not supported for decoding or encoding on the GTX 960 GPU.

What is the video format on the timeline? A MediaInfo analysis would help - see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo to get data into a sutable format for posting in a comment, if you are not familiar with it.

Try changing the Program settings, Device options tab, Import, Processing and Export options to the Intel UHD 630 GPU.

Are the drivers for both the UHD 630 and the GTX 960 up to date?

Hi John,

Thanks for the prompt reply. All the drivers are up-to-date. I started the project in Camtasia studio and decided to move it to VPX. I had to convert the TSC files and they show as AVI now. I recorded at 4K although the actual capture height is 2100 pixels because I didn't want to include the taskbar. I installed Media Info like you suggested and here is the readout:

Incidentally the Intel UHD 630 is connected to my 27" Acer touchscreen. If I move the VPX to the touchscreen, full screen works regardless as to whether I have the Intel or the GeForce graphics selected. But neither work on my main 40" Philips 4K monitor (150%) scaling. I can only go full screen on my main monitor when I have CPU selected.

That would suggest either:

  1. the GTX 960 is the issue with 2GB of RAM it will struggle with 4K UHD video.

    and/or

  2. from the scaling factor I would assume the Phillips monitor is connected to the GTX 960 via the DVI-I port - is this correct?

Does the full screen work if you change the scaling to 100% on the 40" Philips?

Hi John,

The Philips is connected using Display Port connection. I will change to 100% scaling to see if that works.

Would upgrading to a Nvidia GeForce 1060 improve the general speed of editing and responsiveness on the timeline?

Cheers,
Kraznet

OK I found a solution to the problem. It seems that MAGIX recommend using NVidia Game Ready Driver so I went ahead and installed it and now it's working full screen.
