VST midi track not playing in Magix Production Studio

brandnewday1keg wrote on 5/8/2012, 5:58 AM

Hi,

I've imported a midi file from Finale Songwriter and set up the midi channels for each instrument. Most of the tracks play fine, even with third party VST's (Dimension Pro) but two tracks will not play with Magnus Choir. The two tracks that will not play play fine with other VST's Magix own and third party. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Magnus Choir itself. I've tried running the program as an administrator.

Stumped. If anyone can help, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Kristen.

PS running Magix Production Suite on Windows 7 with Magnus Choir installed as VST. Not sure what other techie stuff you need...please ask. Thanks.

Hi

The demo version of Magnus Choir works OK for me in MMM MX on Win 7.

Can you create a choir track direct using the Synthesizer tools and selecting Magnus Choir instead of assigning it to a previously made midi track?

John

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate it.

Yes, directly entered midi works fine on all my vst's, it's just imported midi files that seem to cause the problem. And it's not just with magnus choir, either, but also with Independence which comes with Production Suite. An Independence instrument will work fine on the first track and then will not play on any other track. As I'm not much of a pianist, it's easier for me to write the music in Finale and takes less time than writing the midi into MM. It's really frustrating. I've tried loading the midi's in different sequences, i.e midi, channel, then instrument or instrument, midi, channel but it doesn't make any difference. The other on board vst's and Dimension Pro work fine.

Aaah! Any ideas?

Thanks John,

Kristen.

Hi

That would suggest the other software is writing control signals for the 'midi instrument' which MMM does not understand.

This is a common problem as not all VST are 100% compatible with all software which can use VST's.
