VST3 Audio Plugin support?

M-J-S wrote on 9/18/2023, 11:48 AM

Does anyone know if the newest version of Movie Studio 2024 Suite supports VST3 audio plugins in the FX track effects module? It would be nice to know if Magix included VST3 plugin support in version 2024 before purchasing the upgrade. I'm pretty sure several users were disappointed that version 2023 did not support VST3 plugins especially when Sound Forge Cleaning Lab 4 was released at about the same time and works well with VST3's. I realize SFCL 4 is a separate product, but it shows VST3 have become quite popular and would certainly eliminate a round trip when editing audio in Movie Studio.

Hi,

I have VPX15 and it does not have VST3 capability, so I have to assume that MMS2023 Platinum/Suite does not have this either. There is nothing to this effect on the Magix.com site adverts/information.

I doubt that we'll see this until the next version of each...maybe.

The next version of Movie Studio, 2024 is available. I have Movie Studio 2023 and true, it does not support VST3.

Hi,

My mistake in my text. It should have read, "...so I have to assume that MMS2024 Platinum/Suite..."

Next will be 2025 and VPX16.

MJS,

I have Movie Suite 2023 Suite and using VST3(lifeline, Nectar 3) for audio cleanup, Menu Bar> Windows > Master Audio effect rack(B) [+] [-] buttons lower left , VST FX > (VST program)

M-J-S wrote on 9/29/2023, 7:58 PM

lanwerker,

Can you confirm that you are using a VST3 version of Nectar 3? The izotope website shows Nectar 3 as a VST2 plugin. I have that version of Nectar installed on my system and it does work in Movie Studio 2023. Nectar 4 is a VST3 only plugin and would likely not work in MEP or Studio. I have several VST3 plugins that do not appear in the Master Audio rack. Magix has confirmed that MEP and Movie Studio do not support VST3 plugins at this time.

@lanwerker

As @M-J-S says, in the statement I have now made bold, there is no support for VST3s in either MEP, Movie Studio 2024 or even Video Pro X15.

I, for one, would very much like to see this situation change, especially in VPX!

@M-J-S

Apologies for "editing" your post to bolden that sentence but I wanted to highlight, for any other user reading this thread, what Magix told you.

I am sure this will change soonish, will certainly be necessary going forward (as VST2s will be gradually phased out.) However is always worth mentioning that you can get VST2s which are able to load VST3s, so if desperate, can use VST3s in MEP/VPX that way for now.

I use something called Freestyle, but there are several other similar options, including some very simple ones I'm sure.
