I am having a problem with the software finding files on my video so i can edit it in the program. i've tried copying the file to my desktop and its not working along with the connecting the phone to the laptop and uploading from my phone. can someone please help

Unfortunately, your post does not really give us very much information at all! We don't even know which version and variant of MEP you have.
So, first please read this post and give us ALL the information requested there.
Then, please tell us rather more about the format of the actual video files you are wanting to import to MEP. If you receive any error messages, please tell us the exact wording of those messages. You mention connecting the phone; which phone? Did you first upload the files to your computer before attempting to open them in MEP?
