@jose-alfaro Is your problem that you cannot start Sound Forge on Mac OS Catalina or Big Sur? It only work up to Mac OS Mojave. It will not run under newer versions of Mac OS.
So sad to watch a good thing die after being a faithful user - from the PC era into the Mac era. Now that they are back to PC, I hold out hope that Mac will at least get an update just keep it working. I've spent more on Sound Forge than any other program in my lifetime.
Oh, sure. I saw that. I'm not on Catalina. I'm running High Sierra and suffering through all sorts of lag and mid-project crashes. I'm just trying to be polite. You don't want to know how I really feel about Sony and Magix luring me into Mac and then leaving me here stranded.
...oh, and on top of it all, I am one of the suckers who bought the Apple 'app' version too. Magix needs to be more definitive with their plans. I can't be the only person who has purchased every version of SF and has watched two of the three become unsupported almost immediately.
. . . . about Sony and Magix luring me into Mac and then leaving me here stranded . . . .
I can appreciate how you feel, however there is one small correction - you said in your other topic 'the company forced you into MACs' .
. . . and suffering through all sorts of lag and mid-project crashes. . . .
There are not many MAC users here, however did you try posting in the MAC forums about the issues you are having? The likelihood of getting help may be higher than here.
Wait, are you insinuating that my ultra souped-up Mac still using High Sierra (so I can use Sound Forge Pro Mac 3) is the reason why Sound Forge isn't working properly on my machine? Not because Sound Forge for Mac Pro 3 has not been updated in god knows how long? Or, are you just trying to get me off the Sound Forge for Mac forum because my query is impossible to answer? I've been here long enough to know you mods want us Mac users to just install Paralells (or similar) and install SF for PC, but unless you're paying for all that, I retain the right to state my gripes. My Sony account, and my Magix account both show how much I've invested in Sound Forge over the past 15 years. I'm pissed off. This is where I go when I'm pissed. Why would I complain to Apple?
@gbfaulkner As far as I know Magix doesn't have any software development experience for MAC based software and therefore they stopped developing the MAC version of Sound Forge.
Inferring that I am dissing your MAC and making accusations is stretching what I posted to totally ridiculous and unfounded conclusions.
Please remember this is a user to user forum and I would advise you to read the Community rules, in particular #1 and #2, link is at the bottom of the page.
. . . .my query is impossible to answer . . . .
It is when there is a distinct lack of information from you with respect to:
what you were doing in the program at the time it crashed eg adding plugin, using an effect etc
information from the crash log if it got that far
any error messages before, after or on restart after a crash.
computer specification, OS patch number and antivirus
is the program now crashing more often as you are inferring? It appears, from this post, the program was working 'great' apart from the occasional crash
Add in what i said before, - there are not many MAC users here . . . . The likelihood of getting help may be higher than here.
In other words you may also find a Sound Forge for MAC user on the Apple forums who can help with the issues you are having.
This is the forum for Sound Forge MAC not the MAC forums over at Apple.

My interpretation is that your note suggests someone in an Apple forum can help me solve an issue with a failing Magix product that has not been updated in almost 4 years. Now, you are saying the opposite. I appreciate you pointing out the community rules and I will try to track the next crash (the last crash was yesterday, mid-project for a client, hence my frustration). I'll try to take notes after the next crash, but I'll say this... whether using a plugin or not, Sound Forge Mac Pro 3 - when it crashes - it just closes. It happens when I'm asking the program to process something - volume, EQ, paste/mix, etc. After it crashes, it asks if I want to reopen (I forget, but it's three choices: cancel, restart, reopen, whatever), where I usually select reopen, and then most of what I have worked on since the last save is gone (and half the files I'm using are closed). No error numbers, no OS patch, no antivirus. Is it crashing more often? Good question. Basically, I expect a crash or two every time I use the product. Is that an increase? Not sure. And yes, other than instability, it's a fantastic product. I still love SF, otherwise, I wouldn't care so much about the pivot away from MAC.
