When I import an AVI with Dvix compression, it hangs.

I've been using Movie edit pro 15 for some time and it's great with AVI files or mpg's but when I try to import an avi with Dvix compression, it hangs, even though I have the codec from the Dvix website and I can use that codec in other programs.  I can load an avi clip and it will be okay, then I load another and it either hangs straight away or after a few minutes.  I end up having to convert Divx files to mpg so I can edit them in MEP.  Can anyone help with this.

I just tried to open a 700Mb .avi (DivX coded) and it worked just fine, the movie was located on a network drive, so it took about 2 minutes the import process, but all this time the program was responding and showing the "import progress bar"

I don't have any Codec Pack installed, I use just 3 programs and I don't have any problems with any videos
