When installing it errors out

Dale-Cunningham wrote on 2/26/2021, 3:40 PM

I had Movie Edit Video Pro 2020 and I bought the 2021 version. I tried to install it but I get an " error occurred during transfer" message. This happens right after it finishes downloading at 812.72 MB. I tried using Firefox, Google, and Microsoft Edge but I get the same error. I rebooted my computer, turned off my firewall, and turned off my antivirus software but nothing works. I uninstalled my 2020 version, and a 2016 version I still had but I still get the same error message.

Hi Dale. and welcome to the user to user forums.

Was the firewall and anti-virus program turned off until the program is fully installed? I'm using the latest version of Firefox with no problems.

You say you have rebooted your computer. Did you use the 'Restart' option? You should as it is the only option that resets the computer. Shutting down and then re-starting doesn't.

What build of windows 10 are you using?

Are all your graphics drivers up to date?

Can you supply the list of drivers and versions please?

There has not been much in the way of specification requirement changes between the 2020 version and the 2021 version. When you changed versions did you upgrade or buy the new version?

Did you uninstall the old version of just let the new version install over the old one?

If you uninstalled the old version first how did you do it?

Have you changed any of your components on your computer?

Ray.

I did use the restart option to reboot

Windows 10 build number 19041.84

I just verified that my graphics driver is current

Intel Q45/Q43 version 8.15.10.2413

I purchased the upgrade

I tried to allow the new version to install over the old version. Then I uninstalled the old version when my first attempt failed. I uninstalled it using the uninstall feature in my Windows apps and features.

I have changed nothing on my computer and I was using my 2020 version up until yesterday on this computer

All firewalls are turned off including in my router modem. All anti virus is turned off as well.

Hi Dale.

Which Intel CPU do you have?

The driver for my Intel graphics chip UHD graphics 630 is 27.20.100.9168.

Your Windows 10 build number is also a couple of updates behind. Mine is 1942.746 but I know I'm at least one build behind at present.

It's possible when you uninstalled that Windows did not uninstall all of the bits MEP can leave behind.

Please look at this forum topic for possible solutions.

Hi

. . . . I had Movie Edit Video Pro 2020 and I bought the 2021 version. . . . . Intel Q45/Q43 version 8.15.10.2413 . . . .

The Intel graphics Q45/43 drivers suggests you have one of the following processors:

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
  • Intel Core 2 Duo
  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core Desktop Processor
  • Intel Celeron Processor

Is this correct?

If so - none of these meet the minimum specification for running Movie Edit Pro 2021 which requires an Intel processor with an integrated graphics chip.

@Denzyl-Marshall

Probably related to this:

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
