Where does Movie Edit Pro store temporary video mix downs?

Gort wrote on 6/14/2019, 7:02 PM

I am using Movie Edit Pro Premium version 18.0.2.261

When I use share to YouTube the program renders a mixdown good and fast. It then creates the place holder on my youtube channel but then appears to hang and crash. The video is not uploaded.

If I try again Movie Edit Pro tells me that the video is already rendered and if I would like to skip exporting and start the upload again.

It still fails but I would like to upload the rendered mixdown direct to YouTube.

In what folder does Movie Edit Pro store these temporary mixdowns?

Don't use the direct from MEP to YT method. Export to MP4, watch it to make sure that everything is ok, then upload it using the normal upload feature from within YT.

Thanks browjj2 but you haven't really answered the question, and of course you have no obligation to do so! 😁

The direct MEP to YT method renders very quickly (a few minutes as opposed to a very long time) and the results are usually quite acceptable if not more than pleasing (going from 1920x1080 source using the MEP YouTube "Internet Quality Full HD" preset)

I used to be able to finish editing and click Share/YouTube and then leave the office and let MEP do its thing. The work flow was very convenient. Now with it ALWAYS crashing I have to manually render and it seems no matter what MP4 settings I choose it can take an hour or more to render a 20 min clip compared to a couple of minutes using that preset. So I have to wait around for it to render and then upload it.

I upgraded to Movie Edit Pro Premium hoping that the upload to YouTube issue would be resolved but no joy - it is still broken. I don't use any of the new features so was a bit of a waste of $

If YouTube uploading can't be fixed then:

1. If I knew where MEP saved the temporary file I could manually upload it.

or

2. If anyone knows what export settings are used for "Internet Quality Full HD" I could upload manually and bask in the joy of fast good quality renders.

Should I be posting this question to support??

@Gort

Hi

. . . . I upgraded to Movie Edit Pro Premium hoping that the upload to YouTube issue would be resolved but no joy . . . . then leave the office . . . .

That would suggest the issue may be elsewhere ie what has changed on the computer just before the crashing occurred eg Anti virus, Windows update/upgrade, if the computer is on a network then the issue may be higher up the chain. Check that you the free space on your hard drive is at least 2x more than the video size - see next paragraph.

. . . . where MEP saved the temporary file . . . .

This is no big secret - the mp4 is saved in the Export folder as defined in the program settings. However if the crash occurs before the upload stage commences then the file may be useless to you - the render process first creates a temporary file then adds this into the mp4 container file that is created at the same time, the temp file is then deleted.

. . . . what export settings are used for "Internet Quality Full HD" . . . .

They should be the same as the Internet export presets in the MP4 export dialog. You get a full details of the video parameters by using MediaInfo to analyse the exported video.
