Will Music Maker MX Premium run without simplicheck.exe?

patfinegan wrote on 12/14/2012, 8:04 PM

This program installed when I installed Music Maker MX Premium even though I never explicitly approved the installation of any program except Music Maker. It comes with no documentation and I can find nothing on the Magix website indicating why it is of any importance. I would therefore like to remove this file.

Does anyone know whether simplicheck.exe plays any role in the functionality of Music Maker and, if so, how?

Hi,

No one here works for Magix, this is a user community, so we can't really tell you for a fact that simplicheck.exe is or is not critical to the application.

My personal opinion is probably not, but you need to decide.  One easy way to find out is to re-name the file as something without a .exe extension then run the application to find out if it works correctly.

You can get more information on the file here http://systemexplorer.net/file-database/file/simplicheck-exe

Or on the companies web site here http://www.simplitec.com/int/power-suite/   to help you decide what you want to do with it.  It does not appear to be associated with and security problems so unless you really want to delete it why not just leave it alone?  If you do decide to get rid of it make sure that since it is a executable file that the applicacion has not been "installed" on your system.  If it has, I would suggest that you "uninstall" it rather than just delete the file.

Good Luck,

George

When installing various programs (I think Magix does this, I cant remember) there are various options to also install various unconnected programs. Ask toolbar is a notorious example. These need a box unticking during the login process.

There is a particular class of software which claims to be a scan of your PC and when run produces hundreds of "shortcomings" on your PC. I think this is one of those producing 117 "faults" on my machine which I keep reasonably clean.

Clicking "Fix" on these programs usually redirect you to a website giving you the facility of buying their software to "fix"it.

On my machine the virus checker rejected this site with a caution notice of "suspicious site"

My favourite trick to see if software is essential to another program is to rename temporarily the executable to another file type e.g. simplicheck.exe changed to simplicheck.doc and see if everything works. If all is ok uninstall it. If something doesn't work rename it back again!
