Window Arranger constantly resetting!

Casey-Nolan wrote on 9/24/2019, 7:50 PM

Hey guys,

I have been using Magix for years and years now since back in 2013. I recently upgraded to Video Pro X on windows 10 64 bit.

I am extremely frustrated with the amount of bugs and errors on such an expensive software! I upgraded in hopes this version would run better than the cheaper ones however I am still having several issues.

My biggest concern is when I open the program. The timeline is always snapped full screen and I have to resize the time line and click program monitor and source pool manually in the window menu. Then I have to resize all of the windows to make them fit in the main window. It is EXTREMELY annoying every time I open a project. I had this issue once before and did a complete reinstall. It worked at first, program was back to normal. I have the issue again and did another uninstall/reinstall. No avail. I have saved the window arrangement in the menu and when I open the program and try to load the window arrangement, it does nothing.

I shouldn't have to uninstall reinstall the program every month to keep it running properly! Come on guys!

Also Magix has ALWAYS froze since I first started using it. It will work good for a few hours and then BAM freeze. Can't save, can't close the program, the only way to exit out is by using task manager. I know it is not my computer

Windows 10

i7-7700K @ 4.20GHz Processor

32 GB RAM

Nvidea GTX 1060 6GB

I am writing this message in hopes of not only a fix, but a PERMANENT fix. These issues have been going on for years guys!

Can we please get something done about this? These programs are not cheap to be so buggy!

Thanks in advance

Casey Nolan

Hi Casey.
I reported the resetting issue to support when VPX 11 was released but they couldn't reproduce the problem.
It happens to me intermittently but I can usually reset it with my saved window arrangement.
I feel your pain with the bugs.
I have been using VPX since version 2 and there are still the same issues happening all these years later.
I usually find a way around most of the problems but the biggest habit to get into is regular saving.
I am too old and impatient to learn another editing program and to be honest, most others have bugs as well.
You seem to be having more problems than most. I settled on Windows 1803 build thinking some of my problems were linked to Windows and so far things are fairly stable with 1803 for my work anyway.
Good luck.
Doug.

Lol Thanks for the feedback Doug. It is extremely disappointing! Especially considering I have some crap update every week or 2 but still the same issues I have been facing for years! I am extremely happy with how the program operates when it is functioning and I am in the same boat. The learning curve for other softwares is steep especially when you have all the hot keys memorized in magix! PLEASE MAGIX DO SOMETHING!!!!

Hi,

I presume that you've seen my list of problems? Anything to add? If so, please do so in the other thread.

I have had your problem maybe once or twice, mostly on my laptop, but not recently.

Which version do you have? The current patch is 17.0.2.41.

When you open VPX and the windows are messed up, do you press on F9 to reset them?

I suggest that you do this, then exit the program. If it exits without problems, then it should restart with the windows set to the default. Does it?

You mentioned that you have saved your modified windows settings in the windows arrangements under Window in the top menu. The shortcuts are F10 for the first one, F11, then F12 for the third one. Did you try pressing on F10 to get your set up?
