Wrong Upgrade Price on Vegas Pro

Cris-Por wrote on 11/29/2020, 2:38 AM

Every time I open Soundforge, I get an offer for Upgrade to Vegas Pro 8 for $149, but when I want to get it, the price shows $260, which is to much for me right now. I can probably stretch for $150, as it shows in the picture, this is a Black Friday deal... is it real?

@Cris-Por

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums. There are no Magix staff here.

Hence, no-one here can really help you. You need to email sales@magix.net to ask.

You could also try registering at and reposting to the dedicated Vegas forums here but those are also user to user forums.

@Cris-Por  ... go to:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/

... and scroll down to the pricing options. Make sure that you select the Vegas Pro version you want and then highlight the upgrade pricing (its in USD). The current $149 offer for an upgrade to Vegas Pro Edit ends today, 29 November.

30% off Black Friday pricing related to new purchases only, not upgrades.

Thank you condex, I can't find where to highlight the price, but now it shows $199, still not $149

@Cris-Por ... From the Vegas Pro US webpage ...

Vegas Pro Edit is $149 USD:

The better packaged Vegas Pro is $199 USD:

Hi condex, thank you for the info, but if you look on my picture, the offer I have received is for Vegas Pro, not for Vegas Pro Edit, I am not sure about this, it seems like a confusion

rraud wrote on 11/29/2020, 5:27 PM

In any case, Vegas Pro Edit is the lower priced version. The basic VP application is identical in all the VP versions, The higher priced versions just include additional software. See the Vegas versions comparison chart.

This post really should have been on the Vegas Pro Video forum.

@Cris-Por Your screenshot shows that the price starts from $149. It doesn't show that the price is $149. In any case, I would wait until there is another Magix Vegas Humble Bundle sale. They came up multiple times in the past.

Cris-Por wrote on 11/30/2020, 10:20 PM

Thank you for clarification SP. that is probably what their initial intention was, just as a click-bait, however, the add didn't mention Vegas Pro Edit, which is a different product, but Vegas Pro ... while this may make sense in a way, it is still a miss-representation, like a car dealer that may say we have Mercedes on sale but they put next to the name the price of the VW. They may be both German Cars in the same dealership, but the add is deceiving.

@Cris-Por I can see the yellow V-Icon of Vegas Pro Edit in your screenshot. This are typical tricks from advertisers. The Magix Black Friday offers weren't even that much different than the offers they have all the time.

It always says "This offer is only valid until next week!" and then they bundle it with some other software that nearly nobody really needs and wants to create some exorbitant base prices so they can tell you that you save hundreds of Dollars if you buy now. But next week they have the same offer which then says "This offer is only valid until next week!"

Cris-Por wrote on 12/1/2020, 6:34 PM

@SP. Thank you for explanations, the deal said Black Friday, so I order the Pro version for $199 before the Black Friday was over, then I wrote to Magix asking for $50 back to mach the add, or all money back if they can't honor their add. While I'm waiting on their answer, Today when I opened Vegas12 I get another add, with VEGAS Pro 18 – Cyber Week offer Get 2 add-ons for free, for the same price: From $149! So you are right, they make the same offers again and again. While the Software is OK in general, with some bugs and a very slow render process, I still don't know if the upgrade is really worth, are there any really improvements over the older versions? I've used Premiere for many years, with more capabilities than Vegas, but SoundForge seems better on Noise Reduction and Normalization the Adobe competition. But since Adobe has moved everything to the Cloud, I don't know what better option may be....

@Cris-Por I'm not a Vegas user and so I cannot tell you if the upgrade is worth it's price. But I can tell you that Magix software is good consumer software if you can live with some bugs.

I bought many different softwares they published since the late 1990s (more than 20 years ago) and use them regularly. When I know that some action could crash the program I don't do it or try to work around it.

A very good idea is to buy an upgrade to a new version and then to skip the next three or four versions. $150-$200 each three or four years is not expensive and you'll get a lot more new features after four years waiting for less money than buying a new upgrade each year. In this case I would say it's worth it's asking price.

In the last years Magix started with sales on platforms like HumbleBundle where they offered software bundles of the last year versions for just $30. If you don't need the newest versions and bugfixes that's a really good price and totally worth it.

Hi

. . . . like a car dealer that may say we have Mercedes on sale but they put next to the name the price of the VW. They may be both German Cars in the same dealership, but the add is deceiving . . . .

Using your analogy - for a particular make/model of car you will notice that the adverts also quote the price as From $xx,xxx on the road - is the advert also deceiving?

Just like car prices - the price depends on which 'accessories' you want to add on.

@johnebaker it looks like people are getting used with the deceiving market so much that it doesn't bother them anymore, but easily accept it as part of life. If they can attain their purpose, the crooked methods don't matter! Accepting evil as a part of life just because we are too lazy to fight for truth or too complaisant to tolerate intolerance and attack on morality is leading this world now, but towards its own doom.

Should I play the same losing game, just to make other losers happy?

I have canceled the order and got the money back, it may be a small step, but only the live fish swim🐬 against the current...
