YouTube has removed my tutorial Getting Started in MEP 2021 Part 1

browj2 wrote on 12/20/2021, 9:28 AM

Hi,

I received a message from YT stating that they think that it violates their harmful and dangerous policy. They go on to indicate that

"Content that shows viewers how to gain unauthorized free access to audio content, audiovisual content, full video games, software, or streaming services that normally require payment is not allowed."

I replied back to them that "this is absolutely false! This tutorial shows how to install and get started in Movie Edit Pro NOT how to gain unauthorized access. If you are referring to how to download/install the additional content, it comes with the purchased program only - I don't show any other way to get it. Purchasing the program or the trial version is required.There are links to the Magix.com website showing where and how to purchase the program. The tutorial was reviewed, commented on and accepted by a Moderator of the Magix.info forum and acknowledged by Magix itself."

Upon submitting this, they replied immediately that "We reviewed your content carefully, and have confirmed that it violates our harmful and dangerous policy. We know this is probably disappointing news, but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all."

The time between submitting my reply and their reply was insufficient to even read what I wrote.

Does anyone know how to shake these people up?

Thanks,

John CB

@browj2 It would surprise me, if your video was even watched by a human. It was likely just a bot. Are there autogenerated subtitles in your videos? Maybe there was an incorrect transcription that triggered the bots?

I believe most people try to contact YouTube support on Twitter (! what an irony) to get their problems solved.

@SP.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

No autogenerated subtitles (no CC). The tutorial was published on Dec. 31, 2020.

I will upload the tutorial to Tutorials in this forum as the one that is there is a link to YT.

I love the part about "We reviewed your content carefully.." They obviously have not.

@browj2 Auto bot, there's no arguing with them, I struggled with one video because it was 'inciting violence', i don't remember what the correct words were i got from YT but i was working in the vid, cutting, sawing hammering etc., no violence or bad language 🥴👍🤔🤷‍♂️ I re-edited the vid a couple of times to no avail, in the end i worked out it was the orig name i'd gave it on my PC, It wasn't anything weird or rude but when i changed it, YT allowed the upload to be Public & monetised, still no idea why or if the name was the reason, but before i upload now i rename my vids to a simple 1, 2, 3 etc. 🤷‍♂️

@Former user

Hi and thanks for your reply.

This is ridiculous. I spent a lot of time making the tutorial and to see it taken down after a year is very frustrating. It was reviewed and commented on by a forum Moderator and corrected before posting.

I noticed at the bottom of the last email from YT a "Was this email helpful?" I replied with comments.

To rub salt into the wound, I had monetized my channel before YT changed their criteria, so I haven't received a cent from them as I don't have the requisite number of subscribers or hours watched annually, but they now put adverts on my tutorials.

Hi John.

Sometimes a wrong title can be enough to trigger an infringement warning or action.

It's difficult to tell. You must ask for a manual review of the offending video or you may just get a bot do it again stating that you do not think you have gone against YouTube's TOCs.

Sometimes just a disgruntled viewer can use the Report button and object. Be careful how many many times you appeal. If you lose an appeal twice I would leave it.

Good luck at getting it reinstated.

Ray.

Hi John

I would suggest voting with you feet and move all your tutorials to the magix servers, then YT will get no money from your work.

@browj2 I had 1 video a short while ago, 6mins of me squeezing a sceptic splinter from my finger, it went a bit mad over 2mths, over 1million views. then YT declared it Shocking Content & Unsuitable for some viewers, they gave it an 18 rating & Limited Adds, views & earnings dropped to 0, YT bots pissed on my bonfire, i appealed but got a similar msg to yours,
