Title: Birdland
Artists: NYCGRIFF
Album: Birdland

Hi Fellow Music Lovers!

"Birdland" is a Jazz/Fusion composition written by pianist/Keyboardist, composer and overall musical genius, Joe Zawinul.

This tune made its debut on the band, Weather Report’s 1977 studio album, "Heavy Weather".  Birdland received awards, as well as ranking high on the American Billboard chart.  It has since become a Jazz standard.

The list of the great Jazz musicians who have played and recorded this song is too long to list here.  Nonetheless, here is my version of this iconic classic.

This song has been fermenting on one of my hard drives for a very long time.  Since I 'still' cannot open or close my left hand comfortably, I've been digging through my archives and am able to polish off much of my recent songs with just my right hand.  (Mainly, mixing and mastering).

Hope you enjoy this latest effort...

Griff

Hi Griff,

is amazing how casually you deal with such a difficult subject Music .
The CD LOOST TRIBE , I myself in the music rack . Probably already heard a thousand times . The course remains liable and expands the musical mind .
I am always amazed by how you .
You're a great musician !

Griff,

Great job on this.  No bad for a one-handed musician...

You've done this song justice here.  It may need just a tad more tweeking, but you've conquered the essence and liveliness of song very well.  You are right, many have recorded this song, I loved Manhattan Transfers version of it.  You my friend are right up there with the best of them.  Keep raiding that archive buddy.

Hoi Griff

the intro and the opener makes me happy. pretty crazy, the whole!

Highlight I find the interplay of melody and bass.

Very convincing performance from you, my friend. But somewhat atypical and really trippy .... a listening experience full of excitement and action.

Well, Mr Griffster

You very well may have out done yourself this time.  The rhythm alone would have made me turn the page and find another song without those complicated rhythms. I'm listening at around the 3 minute mark with the downward chromatic whiney brass.  Cool!

How long did this take you to put together (not counting the stagnant time sitting on your hard drive) ??? How many tracks?  50-60-70? I mean holy crap, Griff! This is by FAR the best piece of music I have heard thus far in this community and I sincerely hope that people understand the work that went into putting all these instruments together!  And PLAYING them as well!

I am totally blown away, my good buddy.  You are one talented dude!

Hi.  Me again

I forgot to mention that the cover is very cool and reflects the time this tune was milling around.  Understated and without fancy schmancy graphics because they didn't have those kind of things back in them thar days!

Amazing piece of work and I do mean WORK!

Hi Griff,

don't worry about your left hand, you know the right hand is more important Istill have problems with my left hand when I play althought it seems to be fine and nothing hurts and it' s so limp and doesn't want to listen to me.. that's really strange

Griff what can I say: fantastic piece, I'm really impressed of  your talent.

Take care my music friend,

Fan-absolutely-tastic, Griff.  Brilliant rendition of a fabulous favourite.  You've kept all of the original energy and joy, whilst delivering a typically superb Griffy performance, even if down to one hand.  You are above a class act, my friend.  I bow below the level of your feet.  Please don't tell me you can play with those as well?  Thanks so much for sharing this.

Hi Griff,

To say you've outdone yourself would only last as long as your next piece. But, until then...You've outdone yourself!

Loved the movement of this piece. Lots of things going on that while amazing on their own, create a fanrtastic rythmic experience as a whole.

Amazing with one hand, could we have handled two hands?

Hope your recovery progresses speedily.

Best Regards,

Stu

Ciao Griff
Donato

Hi my good friend:

Well first i've to say, that Weather Report, is one of my favourite Jazz Fusion bands ever... so my espectations were high when i saw this tune.

I also wanna say that it's needed balls to have the courage to present a cover of a standard like this....

For the rest ...i'm speecheless.... i think Trish has already said it all.... This is by FAR the best piece of music I have heard thus far in this community, i have heard it already 3 times and have to listen once again....

Really, really, no words to describe it....

Outstand work

All the best to you my friend

Emanuel
