Greetings Magix community,

This is the (audio) version of my 'Halloween 80s' track. (I had intended to share this as a video but was not able to upload the track as a video due to technical problems and when the problem is resolved I will share it as a video as intended).

The track has parts done with Magix loops as an 80s song and in part as my own arrangement using a bitmidi.com midi file that I modified for this track. So this track is in part an arrangement of mine based on the Ray Parker Jr. original 'Ghostbusters' theme. And I arranged 'Halloween 80s' as being played on an imaginary pin-ball machine. So you will hear those LO-FI video game sounds that you would hear in a game arcade typical and common in the 1980s. I don't think that Ghostbusters was ever made into a video game during the 80s at least on a pin-ball machine but it may have done well in those days.

As for the music I produced the sounds as a jazz band would with a piano, a jazz organ, a large brass ensemble, a jazz bass, and some customized instrumental vocals to go well with the theme. Hopefully the ECTO mobile siren worked out the way I wanted it to sound.

There is one part of the song that has an apparent period of near silence that you will notice that was a part of a visual effect on the video. I really hope I can share the video here as it is a very important part of the song theme.

Track Review: "Halloween 80s"

Halloween 80s is a fun and nostalgic romp that captures the playful, slightly campy spirit of October in the 1980s.

The piece kicks off with a delightfully chaotic introduction before quickly resolving into strong, driving themes that let the listener know they are in for a treat rather than a trick. It doesn't take long to realize this isn't a dark or somber piece, but rather a joyfully creepy celebration packed with playful energy.

The sound choices throughout are fantastic—a perfect mix of delightfully cheesy keyboards and classic spooky sound effects. The nod to Ghostbusters is absolutely unmistakable and brings an immediate smile. Toss in a few mad cackles woven into the mix, and the whole track turns into a high-energy party.

Without spoiling the amusing turn at the very end, the track wraps up on a perfect high note. All in all, an enjoyable, creative throwback that delivers a great time from start to finish. Well done!

@Philip-J

My thanks Phillip!

Yes I was in a video game mood when doing this track. I though I would focus on the festive and fun aspect of Halloween. The 80s was just the right kind of sound that I had in mind. I was pleased that the sound track of 'Halloween 80s' turned out well. When I developed the video I did run into problems. When running the video in Magix Movie Studio 2025 the video runs OK. But in exporting the video I get hardware video codec errors. I did have a lot of action in the video that could put a heavy load on the video imaging resources. Eventually I might try producing the video on another newer computer. For now it looks like the audio track version will do well this Halloween season.

Best Wishes

Mark ;)
