I AM ALTERED - is a double album, a first collaboration between GalaeGala and Nickillus.  It tackles the issue of mental health.

We wanted to tell in music, the thin line that divides the being of sound mind and not being.
A musician now bereft of compositional ideas, turns in on himself and slips into alcohol and drug use.  Over time he becomes ill with schizophrenia, but a psychologist, a fan of his work, is determined to lead him back to health.
It takes a long time, but with intensive treatment, he finally does it.
The most rewarding thing for both protagonists is the return of a burning desire in the musician to make music again.

Track 05 deals with inappropriate response to every day situations.

EQUIPMENT -

GalaeGala - Korg 01 wfd - VSTI Korg Workstation - Korg Fm7 - 8
Alchemy - Electra x Tone- Tone Gladiator - DN-e1 Magix

Nickillus - Magix - Piano One, Upright Bass, Analog Synth, Revolta 2, DN-e1, Space Pad, Beatbox, LoopMaker
Other - Iris 2, Curve 2.5, Alchemy (Dream Voices), VoicePlex, Revitar 2.01, DSK Dynamic Guitar, EZ Poly, Addictive Drums 2

My sincere thanks go out to Galaegala for affording me the opportunity to collaborate with such a stalwart of the community here.  He is a delight to work with.  His own gorgeous, ambient sounds and my own less refined offerings provided him plenty of challenges in this collaboration.  I hope you'll agree he has done a wonderful job - as usual.

I can not hide that by listening to various songs of our collaborative work,
I think it is a work of a very good standard.
but the important thing is that we had fun

Hey!!!

Hi Nick & Franco:

Worth every minute of the the 11:40 that it took listening to this fine collaborative work.  Those "dark" piano tones coursing along with the high-pitched string synth (at the beginning) really enables the listener (me) to get a foothold onto the 'ledge' and peer into the afflicted subject's mental repository.  Now, as a voyeur, I follow along as the erstwhile composer and psychologist undergo their subsequent journey into the winding catacombs of the composer's mind; as they attempt to bring this poor soul back into the sunlight of 'sanity'.

This musical venture; intricately showcasing the unpredictable, yet riveting, journey into the complicated corridors of mental illness, is clearly fleshed out (at least to me) by the use of intricate effects and diverse tonal shadings.

A provocative, but necessary theme.

Wonderfully done, gentlemen.

from start it feels the pathology, a confused calm, after you enter an ocean where the surface appears to order but as you descend the pressure increases and confusion, but keep the other deeper level and order appears announced by the song the dauphin and the whisper of a woman, and it seems that there is ... I get your health? .. oh no !!, the pathology remains still......well done!!

Can I just say this, respectively.

I never would have thought, that you two would be able to produce such successful pieces of music together.

With 2 completely different music forms, it can't be as easy as you guys make it sound!

I love this track, that isn't to say I didn't like the others, but this track, has a happy, and "altered" feeling. It is very unique and addictive.

I always love the bass in your music sets, and I always find you to pick the greatest "high" "mid" and "lower" synths to match it to.

The pianowork in this alone is huge, as is the amount of work involved to produce such an immense and longer song that not only sounds good, but is interesting with the story it is telling.

I love what you guys have done here, and I really can't believe that you two are working this well together. It blends together smoothly. Very smoothly.

Great work to both of you guys, I still can't believe the quality of the soundsapace, and every other aspect of this track - Respect!

Hey guys

The dissonance that you use conveys perfectly the musings that surely must be meandering through the disjointed mind of one with a mental disorder.  Yikes! That sounded mean of me to say but I don't see how it would be possible to musically express the story you are telling.  Super job

Schwierige Musik mit unzählige Details die diese Geschichte Ausdruck verleihen.

Ein wahrer Genuss!!!!! ihr zwei.

what a grat idea to use this topic! i must say that the beginning isa little hard to stand but i guess this was your intention to underline the disease of schizophrenia wich is (and i know what i´m talking of) hard to stand...the middle feels like a dream or somehow like falling, you very well let the music sound a little in the back - very well done! the last minute sounds much more positive so i must say: you created a great musical vision of this topic! very cool!

Nick,

I know I've been away for awhile, but seriously...I'm alright.    Just kidding!!!!

This is going to be interesting to follow as I am a musician...and a psychologist...for real.  Though I have never had a mental illness, I deal with it on a daily basis.  Quite a storyline you have developed here.  I'm going to be following this album to see where it leads...you've got me curious now.

...and with the collaboration of Franco, this is going to be quite a journey!

This is the first entry of the album right?  Love it.

meravilloso trabajo

Last changed by Sandro_Glavina_Channel on 4/23/2016, 6:48 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
