A cover song of "Spain.  This classic piece of music was written and released by the great Jazz pianist/composer, Chick Corea way back in 1973 and was performed by Chick, along with his band, "Return to Forever".  To date, this song has been performed by hundreds of musicians all over the world.  It continues to remain a "classic" till this very day!

So here's my take.

Please enjoy.

Dear Griff, this is without doubt a famous cover, but the fact remains that the way you play it, or if you prefer better, your arrangement is very high level.
all listen to music of any kind, but there is always a style that you have in your heart and mind and that you can play with ease.
this is your case, everything is perfect, it's just a great pleasure to listen to.
However I Said one that this music has never heard and only you and sandro you failed with your skill to make me know something that I was lost
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salut mon cher ami,

Patrick

Friend this piece of music has been performed by many artists,
now heard Stevie Wonder live on London 08;
these days I listened to Ella Fitzgerald
and I have felt a great pleasure in listening to Dianne Reeves, .. That woman !!;
... Friend I can safely say that this piece of music is a great job
I have heard Chick Corea and I think you made a very similar to its interpretation
with the difference that you skip the intro and went directly to the composition
you have put effort into this to give us this great surprise
It has been a great pleasure to return to the world of Jazz always with you
great music, skills, ear .... glory for you dear musician

Well, well, my friend.  I was wondering when you were going to post this.

As you know, I like this song so much that I posted it in my previous life on here but I'm afraid mine pales in comparison. Not that mine was bad, just different.

Chick's stuff is difficult to play in my opinion, primarily  because of the intricate rhythms  but you nailed them all and then some.

This song brings back some good (and not so good) memories from back in the college days.  I have enjoyed the trip and as always, you are the best, Griff.  And I mean that!

Trish

Hi Griff,

the first question is: where is the spanish guitar?  Ok - I don't know the original version of this song, sorry. But without a doubt this is another wonderful jazz piece performed by you. Maybe the sound overall could be bit brighter - as I hear over my system - or with my damaged ears

Anyhow - I'll hope you and your family feel fine!

Greetings from Hamburg - Andreas

playful, virtuoso, masterly!

but don't "build castles in Spain"!

TrishM wrote on 10/20/2016, 10:15 AM

Hey Griff

I'm very happy to see that "Spain " is  On the Charts, as they say, although it should be #1. I know personally how difficult this song is to play and and how long it takes to perfect it.  You don't post songs too often but when you do, you make sure that everything is as perfect as possible and you play all of the instruments yourself (no loops, no runs no errors - I am a big baseball fan as you know  LOL).

I also know that you comment on many, many songs and I think it is common courtesy for people to reciprocate the favor but unfortunatly that is not always the case.  It only takes a few minutes to listen to a song and write a brief comment. "What's good for the goose is good for the gander" as they say.

Just sayin'

Hey Griff,

Many thanks for your wake-up call, as I didn't check uploaded tracks so much recently - apologies.

This classic is indeed a classic for a reason. And that is for providing all the necessary ingredients for a "sunny Jazz style" which you have, as is the case for all your creations, impersonated and made it your own.

Very nice indeed. Great instrumentation - the piano is simply off the tops.

And the drums do a great foundation work - love the swirls and the cymbal hits.

Bass is sounding wonderfully to that, wrapping the whole package up just the more nicely.

Great indeed - I wouldn't have thought otherwise when I got your message.

Full stars treatment, of course.

All the best, Norbert

It's good to have you here. Because we often hear electro stuff in this comm, but you are a specialist for jazz music! Can't remember this melody ... and I am a fan of Chick Corea   Return to Forever is fantastic!!! Your take is really well done. Great music + great sound = *****

Roxall wrote on 10/23/2016, 4:29 AM

I can't say I have heard this tune.

Regardless. This is pure Jazz with its time signatures, piano solos, some classic jazzy bass. Produced with such skill.

Really pure stuff.

Remarkable musician ship griffster.

wonderful ! I love Chick Corea - ciao da sandro

Last changed by Sandro_Glavina_Channel on 10/24/2016, 3:51 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
