Sunrays

Time to reveal my third honoree on the "Much Appreciated" album.  That would be:  TRISH (Funkey)...gotta love her play on words!!!

Trish has been following me for about as long as Griff.  I call her "Maestro" because she is such a professional when it comes to playing the piano.  Even though she's had some hand injuries, she just keeps plugging away...music is a part of her.  As with any true composer, music is your very being...it becomes part of you.  She gives it everything she's got and then some.

This song is called "Sunrays."  I named it that because the music that Trish uploads here in the forum is like sunrays to me.  It brightens my day and spreads joy.  She not only performs with skill and structure, she performs with emotion and feeling...which you don't find very often.

Trish, I thank you for supporting my music, and for really "listening" to every note I play on the keyboard.  Your expertise and knowledge of music keeps me on my toes, and pushes me to be better in my playing than I ever thought I could be.  In honor of you, I present "Sunrays."  I hope you like this.

Brenda

Hi Brenda:

I just happened to log on and saw this wonderful tribute to Trish.  Not only is she a deserving honoree because of her musical skills, but because of her gracious online personality.  She always has honest and kind words for those music lovers and musicians who are not quite as gifted as her.  Much like yourself, she is very serious about her music, but also knows when to lighten up and have a bit of fun.

Finally, you have rendered a gentle song, that beautifully reflects Trish's style.  If anyone can create gorgeous compositions that seem to mirror the person you're honoring, you certainly can.

Fabulous material...

Griff

Good heavens, Brenda,
You must be running on overdrive at the moment.  This is the third wondrous piece in a few days.  Whatever energy pills you are taking, do please point me at them.  You've produced a lovely tribute to a lovely (and very talented) lady.  You've really tapped into the elegant sounds Trish comes up with.  Gosh you are versatile.

I've always seen you three, that is yourself, Trish and Griff as the three keyboard impresarios of the forum (or the prolific ones I've managed to spot anyhow).  I wonder if we could persuade Trish and Griff to offer up a composition referencing you and each other?  That would kind of complete the circle.  A kind of fitting keyboard cycle of compositions, if you will.

Then we move on and get the guitar section doing a similar thing with each other.  Not sure we'll find enough euphonium players to tackle their corner?  Whatever little circles we could find, might build into an interesting little collection over time though - and highlight the great performers we have lurking behind a lot of the more memorable tracks.  It would certainly offer a slant on the collaborative effort thing . . . . .

Thanks for another big lift to my day.
Cheers,
Nick

How do you do that, make heaven with a keyboard?

This is beautiful, and is a very expressful track. How did you write the composition for all of this so quickly? (wonderwoman much?)

This is so well pieced together, every note is, I can only say, pristine.

That keyboard. Is it one of those, Korg Brenda editions?

Coz it should be. You owned this!

I love what I am seeing!!!!

Brenda Brenda Brenda

I accidently happened upon this as I was going to write a "thank you " to Griffster and saw your "Thank you" to him for listening to "Sunrays".  Did you forget to send me an invite to your very poignant song that you wrote for me?

As I listen to this, I hear some things that I didn't realize I have a tendency to do......like the use of suspensions, Keys mixed with strings, rubato, ritard at the end, focus on melody, broken chords in the left hand (because I have very small hands).....This tells me something very remarkable about you, Brenda that is a rarity around here.  You listen intently  to the music that people post.  Otherwise you certainly would not be able to emulate the various styles.  I find it mind boggling that you are able to do this!  Not only does this show your versatility as a musician but also your kind and loving nature as a human being.

I am truly blessed to have you as a friend and to be one of your honorees in your quest to show your appreciation to members of the community.

Thank you, my friend

Trish

Gorgeously played! I love how it gets slower and softer, but then keeps going for a while, only getting more and more powerful and emotional by the second. I didn't want it to end. It's funny how everyone probably gets a different picture in their mind. For me, it wasn't about sunrays at all, but symbolic in a different kind of way, like when we take a moment to slow down and appreciate life. We realize what's happening now will not last, and we'll never be able to relive it, so we live it now to the fullest. Very bitter-sweet, though more sweet than bitter. Well, that's what I got from it at least. It brought up emotions and fond memories from this past year.

Great tribute to Trish!

Third song I am listening to of your "Thank you" collection and it has - no surprise for me at all - a wonderful and extremely well thought of melody and playing. I deeply admire your skills on the piano, Brenda.

I just listened and dreamt away - 4:36mins gone like nothing. This is what music is all about - make you float away into a different dimension at times. And you have mastered this ability to fullest extent.

I think I wrote this before - I am deeply impressed and honored to be able to listen to your creations.

FunKeys creations are great and in itself masterpieces. Honoring somebody with such open ears to the original creations plus pulling such a song out of the pocket in a few days...wow.

Great tribute and a great song.

Something in my brain resonated with these sounds i believed and associate them with positive things and my dreams was nice too. This really is the most beautiful emotional music I have ever heard. Keep it on. Nice to hear.

All the best. Regards...
