  @clement5 @johnebaker I've done a trial with "NTSC" movie settings ie 720x480 4;3, and the results are the same: if the image frame is exactly 720x480, the image is stretched vertically to fill the 4:3 window. And not by a "slight" amount either.

  @zdenekrsa Thank you for the additional information. On the computer where nothing is working try changing the three Device options for Hardware Acceleration to your CPU, rather than the GPU. Just for clarification, since this is not entirely clear

  the extra video I inserted is a guitar metronome, in which only a section of the video was used (majority of it is outside the viewable screen). Anyhow, it's resolved. I went back 2 revisions and did the same updates and it worked this time. I dunno
