Sorry the zoom out has nothing to do with it. That was just a screen capture to illustrate what's happening. SFP 18 actually DOES display as a plus minus box like it should on Windows 11, but SFP 12 displays as shown. So what's the solution?

@johnebaker @Joe-Berg if the project setting is FullHD1920x1080 and the original video clip is from DV tape then the resolution maximum is 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC), the upscaling/zoom result is going to be bad, how bad depends on the level

Yes. I use a Zoom R16. Save to a SD disk. Take that to the computer. Edit in SF, add music tracks and a show emerges. The Zoom has digital interface capability but really haven't bothered with that.
