    Birthday Ballons
Hey so I got a birthday greeting video where u see the family members say their greetings with a background music. Whats the easiest way to just add some balloons to come from down the screen and up as if they go to the sky? Any birthday effect to

RE: BAD QUALITY VIDEO when exporting
While I was experimenting with bitrates and exports, I came across this. I don't have one of Marius' clips with the trees, but I have noticed a similar effect during transitions/fades. Here's what I found: MEP Default MP4 encoder at 8692

RE: MEP Premium selling for $60 USD on Amazon
@johnebaker Hi John. I understand as there are no colour photo-sites, just the filters which is why when shooting and getting a custom white balance in a stills camera you don't have to take a reading from a grey area if you are in a hurry. (As I

    RE: LUTs errors
@CubeAce Erm, not exactly sure what you're getting at Ray. Your pic 1 seems to show the video before I add "Fresh" and pic 2 seems to show after I've added "Fresh" . I agree the sky is washed out, that's the effect of using that template (LUT?). I'm

    RE: Video decompression
@jak.willis Short answer is Yes Jak. The trick to keeping file sizes from getting too large or too small and not losing quality that you could notice easily in normal playback is to set them at roughly the same settings as the original settings of

RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
@CubeAce @browj2 @johnebaker Hi Ray Your screen shots of the Eiffel Tower are a very good example of why not to use too much HDR Gamma in VPX ie much more than 20% starts to show dark and light bands, which i think is created by the blurred mask

@browj2 @johnebaker Thank you John. Interestingly It was set to BT.709 but I changed it to BT.2020 for my last upload of that video using a higher bit rate in MP4. MediaInfo is reporting a maximum bit rate of 132Mb/s and minimum of 90.4Mb/s and

@johnebaker Hi John. Maximum bitrate shows as 120Mb/s. Should I up it? I thought it may have been the rigging on the ship causing problems with it being thin in an expanse of bland colour. In fact I'm not keen of the rendering of the sky in general.

RE: [Closed] HumbleBundle with Video Pro X11 for 25$ US
@CubeAce Hi Ray . . . . Any ideas as to why it would almost break up like that? . . . . Educated guess - running out of available bitrate - the action in front of the sky being allocated most of the available bitrate, leaving little for the sky as

@Reyfox @Scenestealer @browj2 @johnebaker @shgrude @Werks Hi Guys. I've just completed my first try at various bit within VPX. I used auto white balance on a couple of clips and at roughly 2:15 to 2:19 the sky has completely gone nuts. Any ideas as

RE: 36 Hours of Testing MEP Pre Settings For Playback and Export. Part II
@Scenestealer Hi Peter. What I should add is exports now seem smoother but sharper. For instance I'm not getting colour banding in a clear blue sky and little noise but ground seems to show better defined stones and grass, leaves etc. I don't know

RE: Why are videos suddenly shortened by x seconds
@FF22 If you think of variable frame rate as similar to variable bit rate, then the same thing will apply. Variable bit rates work where there are large areas of similar colours next to each other with little detail, such as sky. Take that one step

RE: Why are videos suddenly shortened by x seconds
@FF22 Hi Thanks for the MediaInfo analyses - it confirmed what I suspected with the Pixel video frame rate mode being variable. MEP will handle some variable frame rate video easily others not. I would suggest you run the Pixel videos through a

@Scenestealer This is in VPX, yes? At least this is something to do during lock-down if not a key worker😆. Of course all of this testing gets thrown out with the bath water once various effects and more complex fades are applied but good to see base

@Scenestealer Hi Peter. Yes very nice intro sequence and seeing the timeline SS certainly explains the slow rendering, for the first 7 seconds anyway but maybe not for the simpler(?) talking head shots. It is certainly not untypical for intros like

RE: Any problems to expect if upgrading CPU/MB/ and operating system?
@johnebaker I think you misunderstand John. I was quoting the bit rate of the MPEG-4 source files. They are normally around 80Mbps but can go as high as 100Mbps depending on the camera settings. Example : GeneralComplete

Thanks for the reply Jeff. The signal actually comes from my Sky+HD box which is connected though a DVD/VCR combo. The 'live' signal is also corrupted as well as the playback. Even tried one of my own recordings on DVD. I am not an expert, but it

    RE: Rendering artifats
Here are 2 screen shots. It is hard to see, but there is a blockiness in the sky on the right picture - artifacts that I don't see in the original. I guess you have to see it rendered, and then it is much worse in youtube. What am I missing in VPX?
