Well, I checked to make sure I had MIDI REC enabled on the track in question, but I'm still getting no sound when I try to play the keyboard/scale. But sound during playback in the Arranger is fine.

@David-Longn If this bug happens you can click on the magnifying glass icon in the bottom right corner of the arranger window and then switch to another view mode. This should reset the loop bar.

VPX16 Patch 22.0.1.253 released today Jan. 6

Here are the changes to VPX16. I wasn't able to see the patch changes for Movie Studio, but I suspect that they are the same. None of the bugs that we have raised have been repaired. That said, I have had several crashes over the last month or so.

@jtjw60 By the way, VST instruments are very limited inside Independence. You cannot use the modifiers with them. So I recommend you load VST instruments in your DAW and enable MIDI Thru on the step sequencers and arpeggiators and arranger modifiers
