RE: Buzzing audio for imported AVI files
@Jim-Raines, @me_again, @emmrecs Hi Jim Thanks for the MediaInfo analysis. The issue is the FireWire Application that captured the AVI has created a Type 2 AVI file, ie it has 2 audio streams, MEP can only use one stream. Try this first - in MEP,

RE: Buzzing audio for imported AVI files
@Jim-Raines From the MediaInfo data various things strike me. First, that audio seems to have two streams; this is known to give MEP problems. Second, and perhaps more pertinent here, the audio sampling rate is 32kHz (MEP will almost certainly be

RE: Buzzing audio for imported AVI files
Greetings, In older versions of MEP I've occasionally had audio problems with imported AVIs. If memory serves me well, I had some success with "curing" the audio noise by going to File-Settings-Program-Import/Export and under Import Formats

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
John, it appears to me that keruxjeff can capture ("transfer", as I mentioned in my first post) DV with firewire into his old computer without recoding (the Storm card looks like it has a 4-pin Firewire socket): I have an old custom built Windows PC

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
@AAProds Hi Alwyn . . . . I really would just use your workhorse to capture your DV tapes onto an external drive . . . The only way to do that is capturing the Composite vide and audio, assuming the camera has th connections, via USB

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
I really would just use your workhorse to capture your DV tapes onto an external drive and then transfer the DV-AVI files onto your laptop. All that very expensive box does is provide firewire access, something you will not need after you have

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
@keruxjeff Does your laptop include a Thunderbolt port? Presumably so if you are considering that device. In which case it should work, I think. My only reservation is about the included firewire card. From my experience and for reliability I would

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
Having been in the Mini DV world for many years, and now transferring VHS via an analogue capture solution (in my case, an internal capture card), I would strongly strongly strongly recommend finding a Firewire PCMCIA card for your laptop. DV

RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
@keruxjeff Hi . . . . Does anyone know what equipment I would need to go from Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB? Is it even possible? . . . . It is possible, however the proper converters are difficult to find. If your laptop has a PCMCIA card slot then you

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
@MikaS Hi I do not have a Firewire device on my PC, however you should find more advanced settings available in the DV capture dialog where there may be an option to manually select BFF - see page 89 onwards in the PDF manual available under

@stligochu Hi You need the 64 bit drivers from Terratec - download and install from here - right side of the page - Win 10 Treiber 64bit. . . . . It does exist any cable Firewire to Composite or S-Video? . . . . There are no true Firewire to USB

RE: DV-import problem
@HakanHiko Can you confirm exactly which IEEE 1394 (Firewire) driver you are using on your computer? I use the Windows "Legacy" driver for both my firewire ports and have no problem. See the attached screenshot below, which is of the Device Manager

@HakanHiko Welcome to the Magix forums. I import DVD footage via firewire from various DV cameras quite regularly, and that Driver information screen always shows "Microsoft DV device" and not the camera/device name. Try setting yours to that

RE: Could not connect to selected device
Hi @stligochu There are various firewire to USB adapters like this: https://www.miniinthebox.com/en/p/usb-to-firewire-ieee-1394-adapter_p4178728.html? available if you google, but whether or how these work, or if they only pass data one way I am not

Thank you John. I tried the Analog option. It partially worked since I can see the video images in the desktop but it's in B&W and it does not allow me to record any image. I would love to have a Fire Wire port since it was I used for years
