Bloated file won't burn

Can anyone give me some pointers / fixes / work arounds? Using Magix Movie Studio 2023 Platinum (Ver. 22.03.172 - UDP3).

Spent ages creating a menu page with 8 text chapters (no buttons, except those linking to other pages and no video preview windows) ,as I had 16 video files I wanted over two menu pages.

Total video file size is 32GB, being burnt onto a 50GB Blu-ray. When I go to burnt it I needed to drop the bit rate really low (8350 KBit/Sec) See image 1. below. This gave me the impressions the file size had become very large, as it should have fitted on the Blu-ray with space to spare.

To create the menu pages I needed to add and delete bits, but oddly the deleted bits and text ended up getting duplicated on a 3rd menu page (Image 2. above). Which I can't get rid of, so ended up removing the link buttons from the other pages (effectively leaving it there, stand alone).

When I tried to burn the disc it gets so far and just sticks, with the timer still running. See image 3. above.

Any input would be much appreciated.

It would be extremely useful if you were to add the full specification of your computer as your signature! This post will show you the level of detail which is very helpful to fellow-users.

I say this because the problem you describe could very easily be caused by a lack of hard drive space on your computer! It should not be necessary to lower the bitrate so far but MMS will try and calculate how much disc space it needs to create the BD files; if it senses "low" free space it will try to adjust the bitrate accordingly. OR, if it does not know you are attempting to burn to a 50GB, so dual-layer, BD disc.

Two additional suggestions: use the Image Recorder option (if you have enough hard drive free space - the processing of such a large video needs considerably more space on your HDD than the 32GB "starting" file, perhaps as much as two or three times the size); and, try the MPEG-2 option for encoding. This latter is the more usual format for BD discs.

The Image Recorder option will produce an .iso file which can then be burned to disc using disc-burning software, such as the free ImgBurn.

In addition to @emmrecs comment, looking at the images of the disc menus, you may find the menus do not work as expected.

It would help if you post images of the Edit mode of the disc menu creations so we can see the layout of the videos in the left pane as well as one of the menus objects.

Did you use the method shown in this tutorial for creating a multiple movies on a disk as your starting point?

If not try the method as it will create the necessary pages required, which you can then edit further.

Does your Blu-ray burner support burning to Dual Layer 50 GB discs?

I personally never burn Blu-ray to dual layer discs, BD dual layer burning is, in my experience, inconsistent depending on the type of discs you are using. I find it is better to create such a large project over 2 discs.

From your images, and assuming the movies can be played in any sequence, I would split the videos so all the colour movies are on one disc and the B&W on a second disc if possible.
