"Burning Interface" does not work. Program crashes and starts again

siegbrunn wrote on 9/13/2022, 11:50 AM

Till a while ago I was still on Magix Movie edit pro Premium 19.01.31. Ich actually HAD bought Movie Studio 2022 but never noticed that the computer was still opening MEP premium 2019. So now I have finally got my ducks in a row. Found the right EXE and opened it. Had an immediate window for a software update (to 22.0.3.152) which I installed. Now I opened the project I was working on till now. It opened normally and looked very good. I then went to the "burning interface" and got a black screen for perhaps 15 or 20 seconds, and then the program crashed, then reopening by itself with no improvement.

I haven't the faintest idea what I should try to do next. I can't rebuild the menu, because it crashes before I see anything. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Karen

OK I absolutely have to solve this. Now I have uninstalled Movie Studio and the update and will reinstall. Hope this isn't a mistake.

Til later

Just to let you know - it didn't work. Still don't have a usable Movie Studio. Bah!

OK Next question. Should I uninstall EVERYTHING (I mean all previous versions of Magix) and all folders and program data (disc images and whatever) which I would pack away on another drive in case there's something there that I might later need (a disc image or original material). Then when everything is gone, reinstall Movie Studio. Is that a promising course to follow?

@siegbrunn

Hi Karen.

Sorry that no-one has been able to offer a solution to you!

No, it should absolutely NOT be necessary to uninstall EVERYTHING in order to resolve this. My personal advice would be: don't!

It may well be the best advice we can offer is to create a Support ticket. Begin at this page, ensuring you completely answer ALL questions you see on every page and always choose the option to Ask Support, often this option will be at the foot of a page!

One other thing: apart from the fact that you are running Windows 10, we know nothing else at all about your computer hardware etc. Please read this post and give us as much of the requested information by adding it to your signature.

Also, the version number of MS which you quote is actually MS 2023, so not 2022! If you installed the 2022 version it seems you have been updated to the latest version! Did you buy the subscription version of the program, which would explain why you now have version 22? If you did not originally buy the subscription then I think you may be running MS 2023 under your MS 2022 licence which might explain the problem.

Also, which edition (Basic, Platinum or Suite) of MS 2022 did you buy?

Oh thank you, Jeff! We bought the Platinum version. In the Confirmation E-mail it's

"Movie Studio Platinum 365
Movie Studio Platinum 12 month subscription"

Sorry, I had already begun moving stuff to another drive and had uninstalled the last Version of MEP 2019. It's not really so much. BTW I tried another video from MEP 2019 in the Movie Studio 2023 Platinum. The video is a small one for a student with 4 demo arias, so it has a menu. This menu DOES work, the Burning Interface comes up without a problem. I will try the contact with support (probably after the weekend) and see if they can suggest something. I do have some thoughts though of what I might do first. But I have to reinstall the MEP 2019 first. I suspect now that there is an error in the building of the menu and that's causing the crashes. I'll let people know if I find something. Thank you again.
