Can't hear sound on MTS files

ArnieB wrote on 5/22/2018, 11:26 AM

As of the middle of last week, I am unable to hear any sound on imported MTS files. This does not appear to be a problem with the MTS files, as files that previously played fine within the editor no longer play. I also know that the sound is on the MTS files as they play ok within Windows Media Player.

Finally, I have found a work around, which is to use an independent Video Converter to convert the MTS files to MP4 files first. When I import the MP4 files, I can edit them fine.

However, I need to fix the problem so that I can edit the MTS files directly.

I am wondering if this is linked to a Windows upgrade. I spoke to a customer services representative from Magix on Friday and she mentioned that I was not the only person to have this problem, but I have been unable to find how to fix it. I even tried uninstalling an reinstalling the software, but that didn't work and just succeeded in downgrading me to an older version of the software (from build 15.0.5.211 to 15.0.0.56) That problem is the subject of a separate forum post.

Please could someone let me know what I should do to fix the problem so that I can edit MTS files again.

Many thanks

Hi

. . . . I am unable to hear any sound on imported MTS files . . . . and . . . . MTS files will no longer play on my VPX. Only video and no audio . . . .

We need more information about your Windows version and Movie Edit pro / VPX versions as found under Help, About and what changed on the computer when the sound 'disappeared' eg Windows update etc?

We can only guess what the issue is, it may be related to an issue with Windows updates which was arose in 2018 see this solution.

I have downloaded the DD win 10 fix and tried everyway to load it but it says it is expired and for me to contact Magix.I just purchased Wondershare file converter an hour ago and it seems to be working fine once I convert them over. The problem started about July of last year and I initially thought my Canon video camera was not working correctly.I try to make some fun little videos for YouTube and I just cant wait forever for a solution. Thank you though.

That was an amazing hack!! When i pressed install updates it was telling me there was not any updates.
After doing your way it founds a new update and installed the missing file.!!!!

Thank you
