Cannot install my software on a new machine - no response to ticket

[Ticket#2026041617000679] I have been a loyal client since the early 1990’s when Xara was Corel Draw and have regularly updated my version (I have a collectors pile of CD’s in my drawer) however, I am currently faced with a dilemma ….

My Laptop was hit by lightning and I have replaced it but I cannot install my copy of Xara Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9 on my new computer as it says I have exceeded the number of copies allowed. When I go to the page listing my products the option to “>Show more details” appears for the Web designer product (which is where you can remove PC’s that are no longer relevant) but there is no such option under the Photo & Graphic Designer 9.

I registered the Ticket mentioned at the beginning of this post over 3 weeks ago but I have had no response and I cannot use the software I HAVE PURCHASED on my new machine. A lot of my templates are in .xar files and I cannot work, please can someone help me get this resolved.

@John-Baggott

Hi

. . . . Show more details” appears for the Web designer product (which is where you can remove PC’s that are no longer relevant) but there is no such option under the Photo & Graphic Designer 9 . . .

The lack of the Show more details means the program has been deprecated and can no longer be activated this occurs with most products which have a serial number prefix of P2-.

Xara products are no longer sold by Magix,

I would suggest, as you will have Windows 11, you update to the latest version from Xara, they do have a discount for the product, see here. The Xara Community forum is here.

So if I do not wish (for whatever reasons) to purchase an upgrade then I can no longer use the software I originally purchased? I am not wanting or expecting support I would just like to continue using the software I purchased and paid for or does "Depreciated" actually mean theft of what is rightfully mine?

Please forgive my frustration John but I have been a Xara user from before the time it was Xara in the 1990's and have just survived a 5 year period of serious illness including 5 major surgeries (including 2 brain surgeries) and now, having died twice during this time, I am attempting to pick up the pieces and start working again am am not in a financial position to afford to be "Depreciated" at this moment in time

@John-Baggott P2-Serial numbers might need a installation counter reset by Magix support. I encountered this problem once and support reset the counter for me. As far as I know it is also possible to install the software from CD and then select "Software is already registered" in the activation dialog.

Unfortunately, Magix support is currently unavailable. The problems began in the summer of 2025, when the company relocated and presumably also reduced staff. Previously, they typically responded within a few days. They've surely been aware for months that users can't reach them, but apparently, they don't care.

Thank you John and SP, I logged a Ticket with them 3 weeks ago but they have not responded - I am looking at trashing my relationship with the product and going with a different product which is so unnecessary after 30 odd years of loyalty
