Chapter names missing after saving/closing

dond10 wrote on 12/19/2019, 6:59 AM

I have been working on a few projects where I split a video into a number of sections and at the beginning of each section I put a chapter mark with a name. On closing/opening Video pro x the last 3 chapter names are missing. When I have these named and batch convert then save/close/reopen the named chapters are OK. But if I have to change any of the names after this save/close/reopen the changed names have not held.

Hi

Video Pro X 17.0.3.63 - I have tested with 20 chapter markers, all names were lost after save and reload, project was originally save with the default chapter numbers so it would be as you described ie names after this save/close/reopen changing names are not held.

Can you raise a support ticket through the Contact link at the bottom of the page, I will do the same.

@dond10

Hi

You should have had an email from Magix Support by now - if not they can replicate the issue and have entered a bug issue for the developers.

Support confirmed my latest bug and have put it on the urgent list for the next patch.
It does my head in that this program has been in production for so many years and is as unstable as the day it was released.
Why is it that every time a patch comes out with a fix that something else gets broken, things that have always worked.
I fear that we will never see the day when everything just works.
I'm sure the other editing programs don't come out with bug fixes every few weeks and I doubt that anyone in the professional production business uses Magix. Not in my country anyway.
I have stuck with VPX because the things that do work are good and I can't get my head around the alternative programs.
I am still optimistic.

@DugsBugs

Hi Doug,

What was your latest bug?

I feel your pain. I have spent far too much time maintaining a bug list, communicating here and with Magix, resulting in total frustration at not seeing some of these addressed, even after more than a year.

My efforts on my YT channel were supposed to have been tutorials, but they are now mostly videos of bugs.a

@johnebaker @dond10

I have updated the bug list and would like some of you to go through it to see if anything has been fixed, if I missed anything, and, in particular, the text for Bug 37, the one mentioned in this thread.

Note also Bug 36, which is new and was opened by a user on the French forum.

Hi John.
I had mentioned in a previous thread that the monitor goes black when trying to adjust the length of an object.
Turned out when I uncheck box for the "True color for HDR monitor" setting, it fixed the issue and they were able to reproduce the bug.
It doesn't seem to affect anything with the box unchecked.
Minor bug compared to your list.
Doug.
