Hi Michael.

My guess would be you may lose any hardware acceleration you may currently have if the Win 7 drivers are not up to it. One thing is certain, it won't run any better than your current version of MEP as the base running requirements are higher.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the Mercalli Suite v5 bonus. If I purchase the upgrade, can the suite be used on my 2020 version? I am running the demo of the program.

Hi

. . . . Will Movie Edit Pro 2021 run on a Win7 platform? It shows only Win8 and Win10. . . . .

Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 2021 on Windows 7 is not supported - there is no guarantee that it will run correctly, in addition your computer needs to at least meet the minimum specification required and preferably should exceed it if you are working with high resolution video.

What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required.

In addition to what @CubeAce and @johnebaker have written and in relation to your question about Mercalli V5, my suspicion is that its licence is tied to an installation of the latest versions of either VPX or MEP.

I have the latest version (2021) of VPX installed but the previous (2020) version of MEP. With that VPX update came Mercalli V5 and it does show in the Effects panel of MEP 2020, but I strongly suspect it wouldn't if I, for any reason, removed VPX 12.

Hi

. . . . i7 4790k with 32MB ram and a 1070 nvidea graphics card . . . .

Depending on the resolution of your source video, and resolutions you want to export at, your computer partially meets the minimum specification in that the NVidia card will help with smoother preview playback as it can be used by MEP 2021 for preview playback hardware acceleration (HWA), this should be turned on in the Program Settings, Import/Export tab, however there will be no HWA for exporting using it.

For HWA exporting, the HD4600 iGPU in the i7-4790K can be used for MP4 (h.264) and AVC export up to FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080), however HEVC is not supported. If you want to export above Full HD resolution eg 2.7K, 4K UHD, then expect long export times as HWA may not be used.

Check the iGPU is enabled in the BIOS and MEP 2021 is set to use it in the Windows Graphics settings.

Note the above image is for my UHD 630 iGPU - yours will be the HD4600.
