Embedded Fonts Error when publishing

I recently upgraded to Xara Designer Pro X 19.0.0.63929 DL x64 Mar 3 2022

I now get the following embedded font error when publishing my website which is based on the "Music Studio Theme" (under Classic Websites-> Website Themes). The Lato font is used predominantly in this template. The Lato font is indeed installed and available in Xara Design Pro (v19) when editing the document.

Once the site is published the fonts seem to be showing just fine (https://www.littleopera.ca).

Is this an error that "needs to be fixed" or can / should I just ignore it?

The error message would suggest otherwise, did you download the Lato font family from Google, install all versions in the Zip file, and see the font in the Windows Fonts folder ?

If not then Web Designer may be linking to the font on Googles servers, hence the message.

Thanks, John. Yes, I uninstalled the Lato family of fonts and reinstalled prior to posting just to be sure.

Perhaps my error is triggering the "or" part of the error message "...or are not in a format that allows them to be embedded in the website."

Another test: I just downloaded the musicstudio_website.xar template file and found the same error is NOT triggered - so something must be corrupted in my site .xar file, with respect to the use of the Lato font.

I would agree with your suspicion it is the xar project file. I would suggest you raise a support ticket with Magix - see this Support article for how to navigate the Support system, they may be able to suggest a remedial solution for the project file.

I think I figured out the issue. It looks like if one uses the Lato Light font and then bolds it, it will then throw the error. If the font is unbolded or replaced with a regular Lato font (regular or bold) - then no error. I was able to reproduce the error when doing this in the musicstudio_website.xar file as well. Bottom line - don't choose the Lato Light font and then bold it (which seems intuitive :) )
