hardware acceleration deactivated - movie edit pro premium 2021

Lubomir-Mitanek wrote on 4/16/2022, 7:31 PM

Hello,

In the middle of editing a video a message popped up saying "Hardware acceleration has been deactivated", further saying this might be because of gfx card drivers being out of date etc. Movie Edit Pro Premium updated itself yesterday (the only configuration change of the system I can think of, I haven't changed anything with the drivers or hardware). I can go to Settings, change it back manually to hardware acceleration, select my RTX3070 from the pulldown menu but after clicking OK the error message pops up again instantly.

I googled around and the only mention of the error message I found was related to Intel integrated video adapters, while I've got 10th gen i7 and Nvidia RTX3070 in my computer. Any ideas what might be the cause and how to fix this?

Thank you very much!

Hi

In addition to the topic @PATIENT-X linked to, hardware acceleration can be deactivated when the program encounters an issue, usually on export, with an object or effect on an object on the timeline, sometimes this can occur randomly and is not harmful to the program or the project - though it can be a nuisance.

If the i7 processor has an integrated GPU ensure this is available for use by the program and that its drivers are up to date, the current version is 30.0.101.1660, and the same for the RTX 3070 drivers which are currently at version 512.15 (30.0.5.1215).

It would help for future posts if you put your computer specification in your Profile, Signature - see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with.

thank you very much for rapid responses.
Machine is HP Omen 30L running Win10 with the following config:
i7-10700F (i.e. no GPU present)
32GB DDR4 RAM
RTX3070 drivers updated to 512.15 as suggested.

34" Philips 346B UltraWide screen at 3440x1440

Video edited is standard 1920x1080 @60Hz. After applying the latest driver the video mode setting holds hardware acceleration on.

Also, I export in HEVC and the video mode setting is under "Preview in arranger", so thinking about it now, is there any impact at all if the hardware acceleration is off?

Hi.

The export will take longer as the nvidia card will not be used to perform any of the video encoding or 3D rendering during the export. Everything will be done by the CPU alone.

Ray.

Hi

. . . . Video edited is standard 1920x1080 @60Hz . . . .

What is the encoding format and the container file type? Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
