We have not - that is an assumption, it may be correct, however it is not certain, all we know is my file does not work on your computer.
Until we have a file, the possibility remains that it could be your file(s).
Fault analysis has to carried out logically, checking every possible cause and eliminating it with certainty, not probability or assumptions.

I can confirm that the OBS video which John posted opens and runs without any problem on my installation of VPX 12.
@Matt-Green why not now do as earlier requested and post somewhere a short example of a file which does not play for you on your machine's installation of VPX? Without even a very short example from you we are going to be very much guessing what the problem might be.

That is true. There could be 100 things causing the video to go black. But the product issue supersedes them all. Until we get your video working on my machine, there is no way to know if tweaking this or that would solve my recording issues. Since I can't get even your perfectly configured video file to run.
Can you cut me a 1 day license or something to check if it has to do with the Trial version?
I'm clearly not John (@johnebaker) but you need to understand this is a user to user forum and everyone of us, including the moderators, is just another user, not a Magix employee. None of us can cut you a 1 day licence, even assuming such a thing exists!

I am not sure where I mistook you for John. I wrote a response to you and a response to him. Sorry if I did Jeff.
I kind of assumed that the Forum Moderators were somehow employees of Magix. Is there anyway to contact them directly? I tried for like 30 minutes and the only references to support was this forums and some thing I had to buy. (A Support Voucher or something?)
We have the ability to cut timed-Trial license, I was just wondering if they could do the same.
Can you please post a Media Info (Text view) analysis of the file you showed earlier in your screen shot of VPX?
Did you see any window come up saying a free download of a codec was necessary when you first dragged a .MP4 file into your VPX timeline?

Manual says:-
To import (decode) or export (encode) certain video and audio formats, you will require a specific codec. MAGIX MEP / VPX will ask you if you want to activate the codec as soon as you need it.
