Hi just purchased magic edit pro premium 2021 and have an issue with intros and Outros. When add to timeline it adds ok but does not play the video in the intro, sound and text ok but no visuals. This is also the same when try and preview any intro or outdo. Any Ideas

Windows 10 Home, Processor intel i5-4670k CPU 3.4gh 4 Core, Graphics card Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 Ti, 3GB Ram, Hard drive 500gb solid main drive, 10TB WD Black, software using Magix edit pro Premium 2021 (NOTE as 3gb ram only in graphics had to turn off hardware acceleration and also change to windows video compatibility mode)

Hi Steve and welcome to the Movie Edit Pro User to User forum.

First are you using the trial version as some parts of the program is disabled from use in the trial version.

If the full version, which one? Pro,Plus,or Premium?

Then we need your full computer specs and other info as described in this sticky thread.

Please follow the link in blue.

I used to run Magix edit Pro premium 2020 and have just purchased 2021. It is not in trial version, i purchased direct with magix website. When i put a intro or outro into timeline it adds it ok but does not play the video as if that particular timeline is muted. Also in the intro sections you can preview the intro, however there it does not play video eithr, just sound and text.

Can you also give the details of your computer, as Ray asked in his post?

That will help us identify whether you are another user affected by the changes which Magix have made in the new version of MEP, essentially the Infusion 2 Engine. Does your computer at least meet the minimum requirements found part way down this page? And those are the minima; it is always best to exceed them by some small margin at least.

Hi Steve.

I'm not sure you are going to like this answer as your system was top notch in its day but is now old in computer terms.

First the Intel inboard GPU is not supported in the latest version of MEP and although the nvidia card has more than enough ram and internal processing power it can't make full use of Direct X 12 (Even though Magix is stating you only need direct X 11 support) and I'm seeing more and more people having problems if their video cards are not fully supporting direct X 12 and is possibly down to how the cards are handling pixel shading not, whether they are capable or not.

So my hunch is (and it is only a hunch at this point) that neither GPU is being used or stalling trying.

We can test this out by disabling GPU hardware acceleration in MEP by going within MEP to, file \ settings \ Program \ Display options and changing the Video Mode from Standard mode (Direct 3D, hardware acceleration) to Compatibility Mode VideoForWindows. and then going to Import/Export in the program settings and unticking Hardware acceleration for playback if possible and the one below that.

Press OK and then see if everything works if a little more clunky than before.

If it does then I'm sorry but you have suffered the eventual fate of us all that use higher end components.

Ray.

Hi Steve.

One other thing. In your signature you have put your Nvidia Ge-force GTX 780 Ti, as having 8GB of ram. I can only find 3GB ram variants of the card of which there are many. If you have accidentality typed 8GB instead of 3GB then the card does not have enough vram to comply with the MEP minimum requirements working at 4K but enough for HD and as MEP can't use the inboard Intel GPU either then my earlier suggestions may well have to be implemented for MEP to work as there is still the pixel shading problem to be accounted for with the nvidia card.

[edit] This reply I have updated to be more accurate about the needed system specs.

Hello, well just looked again and maybe my typo, It says total memory 7094mb, Display memory VRAM 3029mb, shared memory 4065mb. so maybe you are quite correct with 3gb and not 8gb. So what I did was what you said in previous message by changing the video mode to compatibility mode and also unticking in import/export hardware acceleration and one below also. BOOM!!!! all works good no juttering, I do need to keep lighting tab on which i expect is normal. One more question then, with these things we've have just adjusted, what does it mean for exporting, will it all export as per normal. As an overview, I am an aerial photographer and shoot in 4k 60fps and normally export in 1920 x 1080 anyway as find file sizes are better. Do the adjustments we just made effect in anyway to export 4k?? Or anything else i need to know. ALSO HUGE THANKS FOR SPEEDY RESPONSES. We all know how frustrating it can be when something does not work, so a big thanks to all.

Hi Steve.

Glad it was a typo. Saves me looking for more card variants 😅.

Basically the exports may take somewhat longer (actually, possibly, quite a bit longer) than if you had any hardware acceleration options available to you but exports should be fine. The fact the nvidia seems to have 1GB less than specified for 4K usage is I think should only a problem if the card can do the pixel shading and as that appears not to be the case in this instance should not be a problem. Please come back if my information on that proves to be wrong.

Yes you probably would need to use the options within the lightning symbol on to achieve a smoother playback. Reducing resolution being the main one to try first in my opinion. Even with a more powerful system that is useful to have to hand if needs be.

@emmrecs

No sweat Jeff. I have done that more times than I can remember. 👍
