magix video pro updater service

RA-Green wrote on 8/5/2021, 11:54 PM

Hello,

Every time i start video pro, i get a pop-up of the Updater Service.

When i click this popup away, it stalls the computer and throws some error that causes Windows to start looking for a solution. I then have to click on "cancel looking for a solution" and wait for Windows to recover from this trauma.

This happens every single time i start Magix Video Pro X.

I dont want updates. I just want to get to work.

How do i disable this useless popup ? (And why do I have to do this effort on a "Pro" product - I would expect a simple "never show this again" tickbox)

Thank you to anyone who can help!

Hi

. . . . pop-up of the Updater Service . . .

Which version of Video pro X are you using?

Please post a screenshot of the popup?

What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required and please quote the processor and graphics card/chipset make and model in full

Well i gave in yesterday and let the updater update the updater, now its not showing the updater updater popup.

What I do get is:

this has a very nice "dont show this again" button, however it does not have a "ok now never show me this again"-button. My choices are "remind me later" (which i dont want) and "update" (which i dont want). So I escape this window, and then it shows the same popup again the next time i use the software.

i dont see how my computer build is relevant to this issue.

Hi.

Tick the don't show me this again and the remind me later box. That should get rid of it.

It may not be, but the more information you are prepared to give us, the more likely we are to be able to help you!

VPX version 16 is actually VPX 10, so is now quite an old version (the latest is version 19, aka VPX 13). There is no problem in wanting to continue to run an "old" version (as long as any changes to the Windows OS don't create problems for it) but why do you not want to update to a later build of version 16?

From my perspective: Can you tell me how my life will be better if I do change to a different build?

I need the software to do certain things. The software has those functions. That's why i bought it. (For quite a lot of money)

Not once was an update pushed on me, and I went: "Wow, a new function that makes the product better! I'm going to use this new functionality!"
What has happened, is that every single time i switch on the app, i get notifications about updates.

My suggestion: make new functions available as optional downloads: people (who are looking for something new) will be happy to see something they want and then they will enjoy it.
If the updates were urgent bugfixes - I dont know what they fixed, as my only problems with the software are endless update / sales popups.

@RA-Green

Hi

Thanks for the image - the version number suggests you are using Video Pro X 9 or 10 and it is/was not up to date with the latest patch for bug fixes.

If you click the blue 16.0.1.268, it will open a web browser and tell you what is in the patch.
