Please check.

How much free hard drive space do you have left on your C: drive?

When loading the program how much ram is being used? Does it exceed the amount of physical ram you have?

You can check using Task Manager (ALT+Ctrl+Del).

Freezing programs can be a sign of not enough storage space to run or swap files when in use. If loading the media pool is also now too large to load into MEP try breaking it down into smaller amounts of clips/images/audio files and storing in separate folders. That may help.

You can see what happens in the following images.

Each additional step in using MEP (or any other program) results in more memory and hard disk space being needed.

Of course it could be something else entirely but without the information on your PC / Laptop and the size of the folder you are trying to open along with disk sizes and amount of free disk space, amount of memory installed, that kind of thing, it is really just guessing, but these would be my first things to check if it was me suffering from this.

In addition to everything that Ray (@CubeAce) has written please read this post and give us ALL the information requested there, especially whether your version of MEP Plus is 2017 or the much older 17, which is not guaranteed to work under Windows 10, I think.

Hi

If you are using MEP 17 on Windows 10 - it will work, however some functionality is missing.

. . . . I downloaded the repair and that did not work so I uninstalled then reinstalled and it still freezes at the same place . . . .

Files that are left behind after uninstalling need to be cleaned out before reinstalling - the installer knows nothing about them as they are created the first time the program is run after installation is complete.

Try re-installing again following this procedure - if you are using Windows 8 or 7 then the same procedure applies except you can skip steps 3 to 10.

Hello CubeAce, Jeff, and John- THANK you for your replies however I still can't get it to work. My laptop is using Windows 10 (I have used Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus for over 2 years on this laptop now it just this week it gets stuck at Loading Media Pool-it even makes a "clink" noise when it gets there and just stops.). My laptop was pretty full so I deleted things to achieve 26.5 GB free of 237GB. My task manager says I am at 68% memory. I followed Jeff's instructions and ran sfc /scannow 3 times (all times it got to 70% and said it could not perform the requested operation). I redownloaded the program on-line after putting in in P3 serial number. Any other ideas? Please?

@SKJohnson

That's an incredibly small hard drive and I would say you would need at least a third of that space free to run MEP trouble free. I have tons of programs on my C: drive and only using 168gig of space out of 476 gig and I think my C: drive is small but copes. Try removing more files until you have nearer 80gig free. Then it may run. If you also have a small amount of ram some of the required memory may also be shifted to your C: drive losing even more available space to move those files around.

Ray.

Ray! You were right. After deleting nearly everything I need to make a video I can now properly run the program :) Thanks so much!

SKJohnson wrote on 1/31/2020, 12:36 PM

Ray, one more thing please? Now that I re-downloaded, I can't find my plug-ins (for instance none of my collage options are there). Could you please point me in the right direction?

CubeAce wrote on 1/31/2020, 4:26 PM

Glad it helped.

Sometimes any video editing program will need up to four or more times the size of all the video files used to move them around on the primary C: drive while processing or even running the program. Especially if the computer isn't that powerful and needs to copy the files to the project folder or use proxy files to run smoothly.

Video editing is one of the most resource hungry things you can do with a computer. Most of us have lots of memory and hard drive space to cope. I've currently used about about 6TB of storage in the last two years doing mixture of photography and video work and it's just my hobby. A lot will depend on the resolution you shoot at and to a lesser extent how many frames per second the recording is. Normal HD (1920x1080) is not too bad and a day of shooting in HD normally only produces around 56GB of files, but 4K and above can get into ridiculous amounts of storage space.

If you have any of the shop plugins added to your program (used the coupons or bought anything from the shop) you will have to re-download them separately from inside the program. Or you could just wait and see if they eventually appear. There have been a few problems with the library section of MEP over the last few updates. See some of the other threads regarding missing title effects and transitions from the shop.

If on the other hand you mean some of the additional effects supplied as bonus plugins such as Re-speeder then they will have to be re-downloaded separately and re-registered using the codes that were sent to you when you activated MEP. Click on the image below and use the links that are ringed to get content back and follow the instructions. Some of those plugins are time limited and stop working after maybe two years. You may have better luck if you could name the packs you are missing.
