Movie Studio 2022 Plantinum purchase

Terry-Hoffart wrote on 8/20/2022, 11:32 PM

Let me get this straight.

VEGAS Creative Software has decided to focus on developing VEGAS Pro, our professional video editing software. As a result, it will stop developing VEGAS Movie Studio.

But

We value the VEGAS Movie Studio community and intend to continue providing our users with the best video editing tools. That's why our parent company MAGIX is now offering Movie Studio 2022, which is based on the award-winning Movie Edit Pro product line.

Every time I start my Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17.0 I get a pop up that wants me to purchase Movie Studio 2022 Platinum 2022.

Is VEGAS Movie Studio different than "Movie Studio 2022 Platinum?

If they are not different and Vegas Creative Software is discontinuing VEGAS Movie Studio. Why should I purchase "Movie Studio 2022 Platinum?

Will Movie Studio 2022 Platinum be supported in the future? If so, how long.

Thank

Terry

In other words, we've sold the "Movie Studio" NAME to Magix, which has re-badged Magix "Movie Edit Pro" with "Movie Studio".

Is VEGAS Movie Studio different than "Movie Studio 2022 Platinum?

Yes, totally. It is a completely different program.

Will Movie Studio 2022 Platinum be supported in the future? If so, how long.

Should be long-term. Magix has had one of it's competitors, Vegas Movie Studio, killed off, which means that Magix Movie Studio should garner more sales from new customers in the video editing arena. Magix Movie Studio (previously Movie Edit Pro) has been alive for almost 2 decades now and is regularly updated. It is the consumer brother of Magix Video Pro X, so I think unless Magix video, as a whole, folds, Magix Movie Studio will be around for a long while.

So, the big question for you is, do I "change" from Vegas Movie Studio 17 to Magix Movie Studio 2022. I say "change" because this is not an upgrade, it is a crossgrade. Only you will be able to answer that. If MS 17 is working well for you, I'd say don't. If you're happy with trying something new/different, give the Magix Movie Studio 2022 trial a go. We're here to help (noting that there are no Magix staff here; we're all private users helping others)!

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Hi

In addition to @AAProds comment.

You can try the Magix Movie Studio (MMS) 2022 by downloading the trial version, however do be aware that, although this line of Movie Studio can import old Vegas Movie Studio (VMS) projects, only the basic edits are converted.

There is a list of tutorials to help here, some refer to older versions of Movie Edit Pro, however the principles are the same.

If you want to continue in the Vegas line for workflow and familiarity then Vegas Edit is likely to be your product of choice.
