I also have 2016 version that works with no issues. The problem is the latest version. Computer specifications included. From my evaluation this is a license issue with Version 20.

Hi David.

It is possible the new version of MEP can't take advantage of your Intel graphics processor.

Try going to MEPs program settings and untick the following boxes.

See if that cures the blank screen.

Hi

There is a little confusion here:

Topic title: - MP4 Codec Serial Number and an image of a store dialog.

Comment - MEP4 videos will not play in MEP although I am able to create MEP4 videos. More specifically, MEP4 audio works just fine but video portion is a blank screen.

So there is no issue or requirement to activate the MP4 codec.

As @CubeAce has commented: . . . the new version of MEP can't take advantage of your Intel graphics processor. . .

You processor i5-4570 has a HD4600 integrated graphics processor which is the absolute minimum requirement for utilisation by some video file formats.

However MP4 is not a video format, it is a container file format. Internally the video may be encoded with a codec that MEP cannot understand or needs additional support which is not available to it, and can possibly be added to give hardware acceleration again.

Use MediaInfo to analyse a video clip and post the results from the Text view of MediaInfo.

Deselecting the hardware setting as suggested fixed the problem. Thank you.

Hi

. . . . Deselecting the hardware setting as suggested fixed the problem . . . .

With respect, this is a work around and as such does not tell you what the cause of the issue really is, and if it is fixable so you retain Hardware Acceleration which is essential for Preview playback and exporting some video formats eg mp4, AVCHD on your PC.
