mp4 Dateien werden nicht angezeigt

thomas-linsinger wrote on 10/13/2025, 6:38 AM

@thomas-linsinger

In this thread you were asked to supply the MediaInfo data for the files that were not working in an earlier version of PS, in addition to making changes to the Program Settings>Device options. These are both still relevant now, especially the request for the MediaInfo data, please!

Dear Jeff,

This did not help in this case. I have uploaded one of the files. The system info is below. The Video is a GoPro 6 file run over handbrake and then a colour corrector. It works fine with Photostory 2013.

@thomas-linsinger

We need you to provide the MediaInfo data requested, please!

Your computer specification is very helpful but I have edited it to remove certain confidential data. I also have to say that I would personally consider it rather under-powered for modern video editing needs, sorry!

The file you attached to your post can be played but not downloaded; if you want us to check it on our computers you need to post it to a file-sharing site (i.e., NOT to this forum) and give us the link to download it.

Thanks for deleting the confidential data. So far, the video editing worked well, although the export took time. Below a mediainfo file for one of the videos.

Hi

Thanks for the MediaInfo data, the video file Handbrake conversion and then colour correction process of the GoPro video clip has an encoding format issue.

Does the original GoPro video import into Photostory correctly, or is it asking for Quicktime?

If asking for QuickTime, a MediaInfo analysis of the original video file would help.

What 'colour correction' software are you using?

Assuming:

  1. The original GoPro 6 video file was recorded in HEVC (h.265) encoding format, this would be the default format.
  2. The mp4 activation was for the h.265 codec
  3. QuickTime was not installed or if installed, Photostory 2024 could not use it.

The Handbrake conversion and/or the colour correction process have produced an old encoding video format

  • Format MPEG-4 Visual
  • Format profile: Simple@L1
  • Format settings: Matrix: Default (h.263)

This is an old MPEG-4 encoding format which, in theory, may be decoded correctly in Photostory, however this is not guaranteed as this format has several issues which some decoders do not handle correctly.

I would recommend trying the following:

For the original file Handbrake conversion - convert to h.264 encoded at 50 fps using the settings indicated below

In the colour correction process, maintain the same encoding format if exported again.

I am using the freeware Dive color corrector, which allows batch processing. It does not allow changing codecs, so I am not sure, if this will work. But your comment led to another solution: I can import the original GoPro files into the Photostory (this did not work with the 2013 version), so I won't have to go via the handbrake. It also seems that teh colour correction in Photostory has improved, so I should not need this anyway.
So thanks, please close this ticket successfully.
