@Raymond-Thompson

Hi

We need more information on the video file,

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

It may also help if we have specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it. See mine for an example.

Thank you John, I'm at it.

As requested I’ve added my PC details in my Profile and under Signature.

I purchased the software, registered it and then installed on my PC using the program download from Magix.

I started the program and Imported two MP4 Home-made Videos that I need to join together. I then selected the first one to put it on the time line and received a message

'The program needs to access to a file wit MPEG-4-Codec. For copyright reasons, activation is required. Would you like to activate MPEG-Codec now for free?'

I accepted and another message appeared:

The activation code is incorrect.  Please make sure it has been entered correctly or contact the MAGIX customer service:’

I clicked on the www.support.magix.net and arrived at the Forum.

I don’t remember having a MPEG-4-Codec to load and don’t know what it is.

@Raymond-Thompson

Thank you for the additional information you have provided.

Unfortunately, you have not actually added a Signature (which will then appear, in blue, at the foot of any post you create!) so we still know nothing about your computer. And we really do need the MediaInfo data which John requested in his earlier reply to you! Please follow the links (the words in blue) in his post and follow the details there to enable you to provide this data!

@Raymond-Thompson

Thank you again for that further information.

I have edited your computer spec to remove much unnecessary and duplicated data. Please add that edited version to your Signature on your Profile page; it will then appear at the foot of any post you make.

I can see nothing especially remarkable about the MediaInfo data on those files (again, thank you for supplying this) though one thing does slightly puzzle me!" Your computer spec suggests you live in the UK but the frame rate of those videos suggests they are in NTSC format. So, were they recorded outside the UK or is your camera a non-UK model?

I don't think you've told us which version and edition of MS/VdL you have. An earlier post indicates you have only recently purchased and installed the software but is this "Video de Luxe 2026" or do you have an older version? The edition could also be relevant here, Plus, Premium or Ultimate.

In terms of your original question/problem, because the mp4 codec is a licensed item, it does need to be installed on your computer and this normally happens automatically, free of charge, when you choose the Activate online option in the program. Hence, the error message you are seeing is very puzzling! Because your computer needs to communicate with the Magix servers in order to perform this activation, it is possible that this communication is being blocked, most commonly by your firewall. If you temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall or specifically give permission for two-way contact with the Magix server and then try the activation again, is it now successful?

Jeff

Hi Jeff, thanks for replying.

I've added the amended spec above to ‘Signature’

Yes I live in UK. It was recorded in the UK.

Yes the camera, no longer in my possession, was Non-UK Model.

Its “Video delux 2025” nothing about Plus, Premium or Ultimate

I disabled my firewall and antivirus. - Not successful.

All my other MP4 files, regardless of origin - Not successful.

The software I purchased on a DVD from a legitimate source in UK, stated ‘for 2 PCs’. I have a newer PC with WIN 11 which I can try it on but it uses the same Antivirus and Broadband source..

emmrecs wrote on 11/11/2025, 9:06 AM

@Raymond-Thompson

Thanks for the further information.

However, your "signature" which you have created actually contains all MY signature's data, not yours! I think you must somehow have copied my data into your Signature area! Please go to your Profile page and put your computer hardware and software info into the Signature area, having first deleted mine!

Now, as to the software you have: the product has been named "Video Deluxe" only since the release of the 2026 version. There never was an English version of Video Deluxe 2025; prior to this latest release it was named "Movie Studio" and before that "Movie Edit Pro". So, I rather suspect you may have an illegitimate copy of a software that was created exclusively for the European market!

In addition, the fact that your DVD includes no indication of the actual Edition you have (Plus, Premium, Ultimate or for older versions, Suite) further leads me to suspect you are in the unfortunate position of owning software that is not usable, sorry! Does the disc include a Serial Key or Voucher Code to allow full registration and activation of the software? Without at least one of these the software will NOT operate properly, if at all! A serial Key will begin with P3 followed by a series of numbers, a voucher code will NOT begin with P3. If you do have a code, please do not publish it here!

Are you able/willing to name the supplier from whom you purchased the disc? I am not aware that Magix has actually released any recent software on disc, rather choosing to make it available by download only.

Hi Jeff, Thank you. Looking at the documentation that arrived with the CD, its called MAGIX Video delux 2025 / Movie Studio 2025 which concurs with what you said.  There is also a VOUCHER-CODE, starting with 63L.  There is a multi-national Installation Guide which informs the buyer to activate the product by login into the Redeem area of Magix, entering the Voucher Code, then downloading the installation. Once installed, to register the product using the serial number received from Magix.

Here is the response:

Hello Raymond Thompson,
Thank you for successfully registering for this product:

Throughout this process, the CD was not used. However on the CD there is file called Video_delux_2025_setup.exe dated 17/05/2024.  I have not used the CD at all.

From what you have said there shouldn’t even be a CD if the program is received electronically.

Lastly, I purchased through Amazon.co.uk from ‘downloadbuyer.com’ owned and operated by BinaryDistribution Ltd.

Hi Jeff, Further to my reply, I have a Serial Key beginning with P3 and a Voucher code. Sadly it appears that this program will not work for me.

AAProds wrote on 11/12/2025, 3:10 AM

@Raymond-Thompson

Ray, if you have a P3 number and the program is registered and actually running OK (apart from the MP4 issue), you should be right. You can tell if it's all good by looking at Help>About. Your registration P3 number will be shown there if you've got it registered correctly.

The MPEG 4 activation issue has reared it's ugly head occasionally. I would suggest you try installing the program on your other, W11, machine, and see how you go with MP4s. If it imports them OK, then there is probably a registry glitch on your Win 10 machine.

I've collated most of the recent info about the glitch, and how to fix it, on my website here. If you're up to editing the Registry on your problem machine, then it would be worth a shot.
