I have also tried setting graphics back to 100% but the PC and many programs including Photoshop Elements and Photostory become unusable because fonts become tiny. As they do with windows within programs and browsers. I wasted 1/2 a day trying settings to compensate for the 100% scaling but in the end had to put everything back as it was with scaling 150%. This setting means all apps programs and desktop are easy to see and use.

You confirmed the CPU was:

Given Photostory cannot see the UHD 750, it would be listed in the Video mode options, check the computer's BIOS and ensure that the integrated GPU is enabled.

How to do this depends on the motherboard, consult the board manufacturer's support site for how to do this, and if of no help search Google for the term 'enable intel gpu with motherboard make model number'

Thank you John I had seen the specification indicated the CPU had some GPU listed against it but it didnt register that it really did have it. Do you think enabling it will improve the situation or could it cause conflicts.

John I have just reinstalled Photostory 2025 and have updated to version 24.01.192 (UDP3) (My last installed version was a trial version which expired about 3 weeks ago.

This version now seems very stable so far. I have deliberately tried to get it to fail by deleting batches of photos 20 plus at a time, replacing them, reordering them in large numbers (20 plus), adding deleting text and audio anything I can think of to put the PC under stress. So far the program has been performing without a hitch.

Question

When did the update become available and could it be why so far I have no problems.

The expired trial version Photostory 2025 is / was your biggest problem. After you purchased Photostory 2025, you received a P3 serial number via the order confirmation email. With this obtained P3 serial number you could have activated your trial version and registered it to a fully working Photostory 2025 version. After that you could have updated to the latest version via help.

Anyway, by reinstalling Photostory you now have a properly working version installed. I wish you much success with putting together your slideshows.

Best wishes,
Rob

Thanks Rob I only uninstalled the trial version because I had a project to finish and I was fed up with the program freezing and so I resorted to the stable 2023 version. When the upgrade to 2025 version came down in price and as I had no urgent tasks I decided to try it again. Photostory 2025 seems to be fixed so fingers crossed it will behave for me.

@David-Robinson5527

Hello David,

If I read it correctly, you were putting together an MVP project in the trail version 2025 and you got tired of it because it kept crashing. It is certainly possible that you had problems with this trail version, because a trail version has several shortcomings. For example, you can only export / burn 3 minutes. Also, not all codecs are activated and as far as I know only the standard transitions etc. are available. You did well to reinstall your old trusted Photostory 2023. Now that you have purchased Photostory Deluxe 2025, everything can be used without restrictions.

One more thing, I also read somewhere that you have installed the Nvidia Studio drivers version 565.90. Magix Germany advises installing Nvidia Geforce Game Ready drivers. See this link under the heading Nvidia: How to keep your video drivers always up-to-date.
If you still experience problems with Photostory Deluxe 2025, I would recommend that you uninstall the Studio Drivers and then install the Game Ready drivers.

Best wishes,
Rob

Thanks for that Rob. Over the years when I have had issues with previous Photostory versions I have experimented with both Studio and Game Ready drivers. I found virtually no difference between the two, although the Studio Driver had the edge when I came to full screen preview. It is a year or two since I experimented so next time an update is due I will install the game Ready version and see what happens.

Hi Everyone I have just been notified of another update 24.0.1.196 which I have just installed and as soon as you load the program you see something has changed for the better. The splash screen which could take several seconds to appear is there in an instant and the program and project load very very quickly, almost as quick as my 2023 version loaded. Lets hope the program responds a little quicker in use.

I rather think there was more to that update than they are saying. Unlike yesterday before the update it would take probably 30 seconds or more to have the program started along with a small project loaded. There were times it was taking so long for a project to load I wondered if it ever would. Today after the update from double clicking the Magix icon to having a project fully loaded is about 12 seconds. Large projects about 20 seconds. I call that a real improvement. The first thing I notice is the splash screen is there in an instant where before it took several seconds to appear.

You may be correct, comparing the file size of the previous patch .192 and .196 there is ~2kb difference, probabaly a re-release of .192, with corrections to the language issue in the feedback option. Patch .192 had a general language fix:

Hi John. My copy of Photostory 2025 has been performing flawlessley since I installed the full (Not Trial) version along with the two updates, that was until today. It was my own fault a Nvidia update became available and bearing in mind what you had recommended I install the GameReady driver I did so. That was a bad move, after the driver was installed PS 2025 took a fair few seconds to load and a small project just hung loading for ages before it found all the media etc. I restarted the PC and tried again with the same problem and large projects were taking so long I had to close Magix but the only way I could was through Task Manager. In the end I reverted to the latest Nvidia Studio driver but it too, took longer than normal loading Magix and Magix projects far too long loading, but at least it didnt hang loading for more than a minute as before. Now Magix has been used a bit and found all the media things are almost back to before the Driver update. Conclusion my PC doesnt seem to like Nvidia GameReady Drivers.

My system works perfectly with my other video and image editing software, the only application I have ever had issues with is PhotoStory since version 2024, and now 2025. Thanks for your replies.

Hi,

@David-Robinson5527, when you reinstalled Nvidia drivers did you also check the box for performing a clean installation? I have been working with Nvidia GameReady Drivers for years and have never had any problems.

Addition: on November 15, 2024 at 1:20 PM.

@Ronald-Henderson, thanks for your answer regarding the Nvidia drivers. As far as I know, Magix tests their programs mainly with the Nvidia GameReady Drivers and Intel. If you want a good answer to this, send an email to infoservice@magix.net and explain the problem there.

Now for your crash problem, what you could try is to delete the Photostory.ini file. If you delete the INI file, Photostory will be reset to the default values and any computer configuration errors will be fixed. When you restart Photostory, this INI file will be automatically recreated.

Hi David

Your Intel i7-11700 has the Intel UHD 750 integrated GPU, as Photostory cannot see it, the iGPU must be disabled in the computers BIOS, you need to enable it.

How you do this depends on the motherboard you have, the manufacturer should have a guide to the BIOS settings and how to get into the BIOS.

@Ronald-Henderson

Hi Ronald

Your processor has the Intel UHD 770 integrated GPU, if Photostory cannot see it in the Device Options settings then you are in the same situation as David, with the same solution.
